Trivia / Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Matt Chapman voices just about everybody bar Marzipan. That's over half a dozen characters portrayed by one guy.
  • Creator Breakdown: Not as bad as other cases but the workload of doing this and the site nearly weekly was a major reason why The Brothers Chaps ended up doing a Four Year Hiatus not too long after the game was completed.
  • Dummied Out: Some costumes from later episodes are programmed into earlier episodes, along with an Ab-Abber 2000 "shirt."
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Now that the Wii Shop Channel is down for purchasing games, the only way to play the games on the Wii is to Homebrew your Wii. The game was also delisted from GOG.com on May 27, 2019 and Steam on February 11, 2020 (as a result of ownership changes due to the bankruptcy of the game's developer/publisher Telltale Games), but was briefly restored on both services from December 7, 2020 to May 20, 2023. On top of that, the game did get a physical release on PC, self-published by TellTale and loads of extras, but was only given a limited print run in 2010 before going out of print.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Interestingly, this went both ways. The Brothers Chaps were huge fans of LucasArts adventure games growing up (with TellTale being founded by former LucasArts employees), and the staff at TellTale being huge fans of Homestar Runner.
  • Role Reprise: Like in the toons, Matt Chapman voices just about everyone, and Missy Palmer voices Marzipan.
  • Same Content, Different Rating: The first game in the series was given a Teen rating by the ESRB, but every episode after has an Everyone 10+ rating (to be fair, the first episode did have some lewd jokes not found in the others). By contrast, every episode is rated 12 by European rating board PEGI.
  • Self-Adaptation: Homestar Runner creators Mike and Matt Chapman personally went over each episode script and freely rewrote them. Matt also retained his role as the primary voice actor just like on the website, playing almost everybody.
  • Shrug of God: When asked if the games were canon to Homestar Runner, the Strong Bad Twitter replied thusly:
  • Stillborn Franchise: A second season was considered, but due to a mixture of creative burnout from The Brothers Chaps (having done near weekly content from the site for most of the 2000s, on top of this which was about 3-4 years worth of content already) and TellTale moving on to bigger things, it ended up never happening.
  • Uncredited Role: Dangeresque 3 has a section where The Cheat's dialogue is given a Voiceover Translation with the Strong Bad impression used in Powered By The Cheat animations. Mike Chapman isn't credited for it.
