Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V:

  • Blooper:
    • The scene when the News Reporter says Every Villain Is Lemons, Villain is misspelled "Villian".
    • The boat that hits Miss Appear doesn't have a driver.
  • The Other Darrin: Beginning with this episode, Charles Nelson Reilly is replaced as the Dirty Bubble by Tom Kenny doing a CNR impression, likely due to Reilly's declining health, though he would reprise the role once more for the video game SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants!.
  • Reality Subtext: Barnacle Boy says he's sixty-eight in this episode, which is the same age his voice actor Tim Conway was at the time.
  • Throw It In!: Martin Olson, who plays Da Chief, improvised the scene where he starts cuddling and kissing himself. It wasn't part of the original storyboard, but the crew found it so hilarious that they left it in.
  • What Could Have Been: This episode was apparently going to be a standalone, double-length episode. Several deleted scenes can be viewed in the episode's storyboard as seen on the "Fear of a Krabby Patty" DVD special features:
    • Mermaid Man using his "super telescoping-vision" to read the Krusty Krab's menu. This would set up a Brick Joke where he tries to use it again at the end of the episode, only for it to malfunction.
    • A press conference where E.V.I.L. formally introduces the newly-christened Barnacle Man.
    • Barnacle Man originally wearing lipstick, which is lampshaded in the deleted press conference scene.
    • Mermaid Man getting distracted by an advertisement for Lincoln Motorboats, before SpongeBob reminds him about E.V.I.L.
    • The villains' ice cream truck transforming into a giant robot wearing a miniskirt, dubbed "Miss Thing" by the Dirty Bubble, that kicks Mermaid Man's butt.
    • Mermaid Man attempting to use his power of telepathically summoning sea creatures to help him defeat Miss Thing, but he only manages to summon a really tiny fish who's noticeably grouchy at having been woken up. Regardless, the fish does manage to beat the robot by building a giant cardboard standee of a robot and throwing his voice to make it seem like it's insulting her fashion sense.
    • The heroes entering the Mermalair's secret entrance, which SpongeBob loudly rejoices over. Mermaid Man tells him to keep his voice down, prompting the sponge to shrink his entire face and repeat his previous rejoicing in a high-pitched voice.
    • The reveal of what happened to the original I.J.L.S.A.: they were crushed during a barbecue by debris from their exploding jet. They fortunately survived the accident, but they've since retired, and now spend all their time playing volleyball on a nude beach.
    • Patrick armpit-farting after SpongeBob tells Mermaid Man that he and his friends will uphold the I.J.L.S.A.'s legacy with dignity.
    • The Quickster originally called "The Whizzer".note
    • Captain Magma skywriting a portrait of himself during his introduction.
    • The Quickster, after getting burned by Captain Magma's lava, accidentally creates a tornado with his super speed that incapacitates the Elastic Waistband by sucking him inside head first, leaving him with the super-stretched neck he has in the ending.
    • Miss Appear getting run over by the fish who defeated Miss Thing earlier, who touts that Mermaid Man is a personal friend of his to his girlfriend before making out with her (as in, throwing his face between her boobs).
