• Approval of God: While Tommy Lee was not directly involved with production, he expressed his approval at telling the story and even struck up a friendship with Sebastian Stan.
• Disowned Adaptation: In contrast to Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson refused all attempts by the producers and Lily James to contact her, saying she didn't need to relive such a painful experience. She even called the crew "assholes" who owed her an apology, though she didn't include Lily James since "she was just doing her job" and even invited her to the premiere of her Netflix documentary.
• Dyeing for Your Art:
  • It took four hours to get Lily James ready for each shooting day, which included fitting her with a prosthetic forehead, prosthetic eyebrows, a wig, and dentures to try and replicate the shape of Pamela Anderson's face. She also had blue contact lenses and a prosthetic chest.
  • Sebastian Stan had to have his entire body 3-D scanned so that the makeup department could figure out where to place the fake tattoos he needed to wear^note Tommy Lee is bigger than Stan, so it was a challenge to scale everything down. The tattoos, themselves, were laborious to put on and needed to be touched up every three days. Stan also needed to be fitted with a prosthetic penis for nude scenes. Otherwise he also grew and dyed his hair, wore brown lenses and prosthetic pierced nipples.

  • Greek-American Tommy Lee is played by Romanian-born American actor Sebastian Stan.
• Method Acting: Lily James chose to remain as Pamela even as the cameras stopped rolling. She said it nearly brought her into a mental breakdown, while possibly costing some auditions "because I keep speaking like Pamela in any audition.”
• Playing Against Type: Lily James made a career out of playing ingenues, English Roses, and Spirited Young Ladies — basically, the sweet, young heroines of period dramas. She's cast way against type here as the sultry Playboy Magazine bombshell and Baywatch's Ms. Fanservice in chief, Pamela Anderson, who has to deal with the fallout of a sex tape leak.
