Trivia / Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS

Go To

  • Audience Participation:
    • Three of the Nijigasaki idols are SIF Original Generation characters, chosen out of a reader popularity poll.
    • Like µ's and Aqours, subunit configurations were based on reader submissions. Unlike the other groups, however, the Nijigasaki subunit configurations consist of a duo (DiverDivanote ), a trio (A•ZU•NAnote ), and a quartet (QU4RTZnote ) instead of only trios.
    • The headliner for the 1st Live "with You!", Setsuna, was decided by online polls.
    • Ditto for the center for the first solo PV, which turned out to be Kasumi, with "Muteki-kyuu*Believer" as the result.
    • Fans voted for a Canon Name to the protagonist of the anime via online submission in the Dengeki G's website.
  • Cast the Expert: Shuu Uchida and Akina Homoto for Mia Taylor and Lanzhu Zhong, respectively. Both roles require the voice actresses to be fluent in their character's native language (English and Chinese, respectively) since unlike other foreign characters in the franchise, they are expected to sing in them.
  • Cast the Runner-Up: As a fan of the original Love Live! series, Moeka Koizumi auditioned for a role in Sunshine!! when the members of its school idol group were being cast. While unsuccessful, she later auditioned for this series when casting calls were announced, and ultimately won the role of Shioriko.
  • Darkhorse Casting: While most of the Nijigasaki girls play this straight as per Love Live! norm, this is notably averted with Tomori Kusunoki and Akari Kitou, who did qualify for "darkhorse" at the time of the project's announcement in 2017 but received huge exposure through Star Making Roles in-between the original announcement and the actual launch of ALL STARS in 2019. What this means is that they're generally less available than the other girls due to having packed schedules and occasionally miss various live events or TV appearances for other work.
  • Defictionalization: Much like Love Live! School idol festival and BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!, cards from ALL STARS were brought to life as CCG cards in Weiss Schwarz.
  • Demand Overload: Official goods for both Nijigasaki First Live and Love Live Fest sold out fast, with some fans wondering if staff underestimated the supply for the Nijigasaki girls during both lives.
  • Fake American: Shuu Uchida was raised in Australia, is Japanese, and voices Mia Taylor, a transfer student from New York. She doesn't speak in English often enough for her Australian accent to be super noticeable and singing tends to disguise her accent, but it can still be heard if one pays close attention (such as listening to how she pronounces her vowels).
  • God Never Said That: Doomposting abound when Love Live! School idol festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE! was announced and the vast majority of the Western fanbase believed that it was going to replace ALL STARS, leading to rampant rumors that the game was going to be shut down, not being helped by the fact that there weren't any signs of recovery from its past Seasonal Rot. This is in spite of the fact that not only was this never stated anywhere, the game even received a trailer for its upcoming Season 4 story arc on the exact same day (not that many paid much attention).
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The service has been terminated, and there is currently no legal way to play the game or access the content.
  • Late Export for You: Notably played straight with the Nijigasaki anime's season 1 songs. Its opening and ending themes as well as Insert Songs became playable in the Global version from February 2021. Despite being promoted as anime-concurrent, this was four months after the Japanese version made the songs playable when the anime aired from October 2020. Averted with the anime's season 2.
  • Milestone Celebration: After the Release Date Change, ALL STARS is released as part of the franchise's 9th anniversary.
  • No Export for You:
    • The English version doesn't have the Daily Theaters, likely because of the logistical challenges involved in trying to translate a new skit every single day.
    • In a bizarre case of inconsistency, the Global version did not get the 1.5 Anniversary event that JP got, but did get the 2nd Anniversary event at the exact same time as JP (rather than on the actual 2nd anniversary of Global). Cue a bit of kneejerk backlash from Global players who assumed that Global wouldn't get JP 2nd Anniversary because of the precedent set by 1.5 Anniversary and mismanaged Star Gem spending as a result.
  • Out of Holiday Episode: The Global version got many events later than the Japanese version, which caused them to be out of sync with the actual holidays/seasons.
    • Most events from "Enjoy the Taste of Fall" to "A Valentine's Day Full of Love" - JP: September 2020-February 2021, Global: December-April.
    • "Sharing My Feelings on White Day" - JP: mid-March 2021, Global: late April.
    • "Seeking the Cherry Blossom Fairy" - JP: early April 2021, Global: mid-May.
    • Downplayed with "Kasumi's Star Festival Wish" - JP: July 1, 2021, Global: July 15 (a week after Tanabata).
  • Playing Against Type: A•ZU•NA. Ayumu, Shizuku and Setsuna are not Genki Girls outside their subunit.
  • Portmanteau Series Nickname: SukuSta (スクスタ), from the "School" and "Stars" parts of the title. In English, people opt to write "SIFAS" or "LLAS" instead.
  • Promoted Fanboy:
    • A doujin artist named Miyako Hito, having made fanart of the overall series, is illustrating yonkoma comics on an official basis such as Nijiyon. Miyako Hito even made a two-page manga for the June 2019 Dengeki G's issue.
    • Mayu Sagara, the voice actress of Kasumi Nakasu, is a fan. She regularly plays SIF based on her tweets, has stated that she really likes Kotori in the AbemaTV special stream and attended Aqours 5th Love Live.
    • Moeka Koizumi, who voices Shioriko Mifune, is a fan of the original Love Live! series.
    • Chiemi Tanaka, who voices Rina, is a fan of Aqours.
    • Akina Homoto, who voices Lanzhu, is a huge fan of the series. She draws illustrations for each character's birthday, has stated her favorite characters are Kotori and Ruby (but she likes all of them), and her favorite songs are "Dancing stars on me!" and "Mitaiken HORIZON" for µ's and Aqours respectively.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot:
    • Chapter 30 has background characters referring to R3BIRTH as just "Lanzhu's Unit", as at that point the fan-chosen name had not been officially announced yet.
    • Tomori Kusunoki was noticeably absent from various shows and minor performances throughout 2020 to 2022 due to being diagnosed with a medical condition that impacted her physical and mental health. In many cases performances where she would normally be present used her pre-recorded voice as a substitute.
      • Tomori later stepped down from voicing Setsuna effective March 31, 2023. All Stars was not impacted, as the final season and the song KAGAYAKI Don't forget! were recorded prior to leaving the role.
  • Release Date Change: An announcement on All Stars's official site in September 2018 stated that, due to issues with the frame rate on mobile devices, the game was delayed to September 2019.
  • Similarly Named Works:
  • Word of Saint Paul: The game provides labels for song centers in MV mode. This detail proves quite useful for Aqours since there is still no official information regarding song centers for the majority of their discography.
  • Working Title: The group was initially announced under the name Perfect Dream Project (PDP for short) and stayed this way until the girls' school got a name from readers.
