Trivia / Dot and the Kangaroo

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Joan Bruce voices both the kangaroo and Dot's mother.
    • Barbara Frawley, who voiced Dot from Dot and the Kangaroo until Dot and the Bunny, also voiced a Zebra and a French Swallow in Around the World with Dot.
    • Also in Around the World with Dot:
      • Ron Haddrick voiced Grumble-Bones, a Frog, the Circus Elephant, the Tiger and the British Lion statue.
      • Anne Haddy voiced Dozey-Face, the Angry Mum on the plane and Natasha the bear.
      • Ross Higgins voiced the Reindeer, Mr. Nagamora the fish, the Kite contest Judge, the Ringmaster and Walter Q Mouse.
    • Starting with Dot and the Koala, Keith Scott voiced all of the male characters and Robyn Moore voiced all of the female characters. The one exception being Dot and Keeto when Ashley Ayre reprised her role as the live-action Dot from Around the World with Dot, Lucy Charles played Dot's mother and Leaf Nowland played Simon.
  • Blooper:
  • In Around the World with Dot.
    • Dot and her friends fly in the same direction as the plane, intending to follow it to Japan so the boy aboard the plane whom Dot waved to should have been sitting on the starboard side of the cabin so the porthole would be on his right. However, when we see inside the cabin, the porthole is on the boy's left, meaning he and his mother are sitting on the port side of the cabin, implying the plane is going in the opposite direction.
  • In Dot in Space.
    • When the Roundies ambush Dot, the rope they use to capture her clearly lands behind her back, allowing them to bind her arms right away. The following sequence of shots focusing on Dot and the Roundies show them only binding Dot's waist as she is clearly waving her arms in distress. When only Dot is in focus once more, her arms are down and bound in place.
    • When the Roundies fire their laser guns in an attempt to catch The Party (Roley in disguise), the guns are briefly shown to fire bullets instead of lasers.
    • Dot's dress appears intact throughout the movie, despite fragments of it getting torn off when Whyka pulls her out of the quicksand and when they escape from the hostile trees.
    • Dot's gag keeps changing size, sometimes only covering her mouth, sometimes covering her whole chin.
    • When the Roundy Sergeant asks Papa Drop what should he do with Dot and Whyka, Dot's gag has disappeared.
    • When the Roundies attempt to recapture Dot and Whyka, they tie Dot's feet together but for the remainder of this scene, Dot's feet are scot-free.
    • When The Party (Roley in disguise) frees Dot, she briefly has an extra toe on her left foot.
  • Dub Name Change: In the Brazilian dub of the series, Dot is named "Alice".
  • The Other Darrin: In the live-action sequences for Around the World with Dot and Dot and Keeto, Dot was portrayed by Ashley Ayre, but in the live-action sequence for Dot and the Bunny, she was portrayed by Anna Quinn.
  • What Could Have Been: According to a promotional flyer, there was originally supposed to be an Easter-related entry in the series titled Dot and the Easter Bunny (which, in hindsight, would have made sense as the previous entry was Christmas-related), but was reworked into Dot and the Bunny, though the Easter Bunny was briefly mentioned by Dot in the film.
