Tropes

  • Inspiration for the Work: Author Jin Haganeya has stated that the name Demonbane came from him playing Super Robot Wars 4 as a child and naming the "Grungust" Super Robot upon unlocking it "Demonbane".
  • Schedule Slip: The English release, so much so that among English-speaking Visual Novel readers, it had the same reputation as Duke Nukem Forever.
  • What Could Have Been: Haganeya has talked about a proposal for "Project D2" or Zanma Taisen Demonbane, a Sequel to Kishin Hishou Demonbane which follows Kuzaku and Another Blood as they travel across different dimensions and outcomes, but this hasn't turned into a proper story minus story snippets. However, the climax of the story where Demonbane the Vortex Blaster destroys Azathoth is the foundation of Haganeya's Manga, D.Y.N. Freaks.

Miscellaneous

  • This series made its Super Robot Wars debut in Super Robot Wars UX. However, the game doesn't adapt the original Zanma Taisei visual novel, but rather the Kishin Houkou Animated Adaptation instead, making this the first series inclusion in Super Robot Wars that's based off of a visual novel.
  • According to Hikaru Midorikawa, Master Therion served as the inspiration for Asakim Dowen, the recurring antagonist of the Super Robot Wars Z saga (both were voiced by him). That the latter was also sealed on Mars by the time the Second Super Robot Wars Z occurred only strengthens the similarities.
