• Beam Me Up, Scotty!: Steve never said "...and I'm gonna stick my finger up its butt/bum" upon encountering an animal. It originates from a South Park sketch that was playing on the fact that sexing a crocodilian involves inserting a finger into the cloaca, which the crocs are understandably not usually thrilled about, but the joke is still almost guaranteed to show up in the comments whenever Steve or his family comes up on the internet.
• Died During Production: Steve Irwin bit the big one in 2006. Got stung in the heart by a stingray, and according to his cameraman Justin Lyons, he would not have survived even if he was already at a hospital.
• He Also Did: As strange as it may sound, Steve was the voice of Kan-It the singing robot on the English dub of Cubix: Robots for Everyone.
• Homage: The animated series Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist is very clearly meant as "Crocodile Hunter In Space!" The fact that Dex is voiced to sound like Steve Irwin makes it clear the creators wanted to be respectfully up-front about this.
• "Sesame Street" Cred: In addition to his work on Crocodile Hunter and Ocean's Deadliest, Steve also guest starred in a Wiggles video titled "Wiggly Safari!".
