Trivia / Condorito

• Acting for Two: Coco Legrand, a living legend in Chilean comedy, voiced Cuasimodo and Tremebunda, Condorito's parents-in-law in The Movie.
• Defictionalization:
  • One of the fictional newspapers seen in the comic is "El Hocicón" (The Loudmouth). A real newspaper named "El Hocicón" was created and sold since the late 2000s, it includes comic strips, funny news and some political humor.
  • During the early 2000s, an official wine was launched, based on two characters from the comic book (red wine on Garganta de Lata and white wine on Yayita). The wine producers took their company's name from the fictional wine producers seen in the comic itself.
  • Although the town existed before the comic book, Cumpeo was modified basing on Condorito's places to look like in the comics, even creating "The Route of Condorito" as a touristic place for chileans as well foreigners.
• Development Hell: A series of shorts were in development in 2002, featuring a 2D animated Condorito interacting with live-action characters, which never saw the light.
• He Also Did:
  • Condorito's creator, René "Pepo" Ríos was previously known for his political satire humour in Topaze magazine years before Condorito was made. Also, various of his friends in Topaze were drawing Condorito with him in the first years of the magazine.
  • In The Movie, Condorito's voice is made by Omar Chaparro, a very known Voice Actor mostly known for make the Latin Spanish voice of Po from Kung Fu Panda movies and Syndrome from The Incredibles.
  • Also from the movie, two famous Chilean personalities made voices for characters: Coco Legrand played Tremebunda and Cuasimodo, and Cristian de la Fuente played Pepe Cortisona.
• Inspiration for the Work: Pepo created Condorito because he thought that the representation of Chile in Saludos Amigos was ridiculous.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: The 1997 animated series.
• Outlived Its Creator: Pepo died in the year 2000, but Condorito comics continued to be made until the year 2019.
• Same Language Dub: The All-CGI Cartoon feature has two different voice casts: One for Mexico and the rest of Latin America and another one exclusively for Chile, Condorito's home country. This is justified, as Condorito is helluvah lot popular in Mexico, but the Chilean accents could drive off Mexican audiences, so a different dub was made for them and the rest of the region, while keeping the Chilean voices for that country exclusively. Keep in mind both voice casts can be considered as the original ones, since they were recorded simultaneously, not to mention the movie is an International Coproduction between Mexico, Chile and Peru.
