- Channel Hop: For the North American release of this album, Genesis moved from Atco Records to their parent label, Atlantic Records (simultaneously with former frontman Peter Gabriel's move), a deal that persists to this day. The move would also result in Atlantic inheriting the North American rights to Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, and Selling England by the Pound, which were previously distributed by Charisma Records worldwide (and thus ensuring that Warner Music Group owns almost all of the band's catalog in the region save for From Genesis to Revelation and Trespass).
- Creator Backlash: The entire band has been negative about this album, recorded in the midst of Steve Hackett's departure and Phil Collins' divorce. The three recording members felt they were making an album simply to make an album.
- Referenced by...: In American Psycho, Patrick Bateman brings up the album when discussing his love of '80s Genesis, mistakenly claiming that the title refers to the departure of Peter Gabriel rather than that of Steve Hackett.
