Oh no, MK (And Pigsy)'s been Yamcha'd!

Surprisingly, compared to other LEGO media, Monkie Kid has a large amount of references to other media.

  • In "Macaque", both MK and Pigsy end up being slammed into the road, leading to them being left in the memetic "Yamcha pose" from Dragon Ball Z as seen in the page image.
    • Later on during "Sweet'n Sour", MK ends up getting rammed into by multiple Speedy Panda drivers, once again leading to him being knocked into the infamous Yamcha pose.
    • During "Amnesia Rules", the Yamcha pose ends up coming back as Mo's knocked into it as a result of an amnesiac Monkey King's antics.
    • In "The Plan Man", after getting hit in the head with a crayon so hard it knocked him and the couch over, Ne Zha ends up knocked into the pose.
  • "Sleep Bug" has MK briefly drawn in the art style of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.
  • When showing off his skills with the Staff in "Minor Scale", MK shrinks the Staff and spins it in his hands, making the same pose and expression Aang did when doing his marble trick in Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's also something of an Actor Allusion, given MK's voice actor is Jack De Sena, who played Sokka in that series.
  • While rummaging through Monkey King's hut with MK and Mei in "Game On", Sandy finds a cube that drastically resembles a Dragon Ball.
  • After enraging Sandy during "To Catch a Leaf", Huntsman finds himself on the near-receiving end of the infamous Death Punch from One-Punch Man. Including the part where the punch is stopped at the last second, and the mere force of it carved out a huge hole behind the target.
  • During the final battle in "Destiny Fulfilled", the golden Monkie Mecha charges up its finishing move in the same vein as the Giga Drill Break, specifically from the final battle of the second movie.
  • In "Familiar Tales", the Serpent Shears that the Gold and Silver demons use are very similar to the scissor blades found in Kill la Kill. On a similar note, during that same battle, the way MK forms his Monkie Mech is nearly identical to the first combination scene in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, as well as the upgrade he gets soon after when he merges it with the remains of the Dragon Jet.
  • In "The Great Tang Man", while trying to remind a memory-trapped Tang of who they are, MK and Mei are briefly seen doing the Fusion Dance in their rapid poses to him.
  • Near the end of "Better Than We found It". Macaque arrives at the beach party, dressed in a rather familiar-looking pink shirt and yellow pants outfit.
