General

  • MK and Mei's entire friendship, being a purely platonic source of excitement and support to one another all throughout.
  • Throughout the series, Monkey King stands by his declaration that MK is fit to be his successor, constantly showing support and encouraging his protege to have some more confidence in himself. Never once does he doubt MK's ability to handle the challenges he faces, and expresses pride whenever his student succeeds.
  • MK's team, and their closeness and supportiveness of MK and each other throughout the show. The group arguably operates more like a family than just a group of friends — both Tang and Pigsy acting as father figures for MK (the latter especially, with MK even confirmed to view him as a Parental Substitute), Sandy is a big, affable fun-uncle type, and he and Mei are often as close as siblings.

    Season 1
  • In the pilot episode, the Aesop is that nothing is impossible if you believe in yourself. MK, the main protagonist, not only hears this from his long-time hero, the Monkey King himself, but also finds that the legendary hero considers him worthy to be his successor.
  • Bad Weather
    • Mei's continuous support at MK's first day as a superhero, constantly shouting encouragement.
    • Monkey King drops the flippant attitude when MK asks for advice rescuing his friends, and before sealing his full powers, gently asks his protege if he's sure about not being invincible.
  • Duplicatnation
  • Coming Home
    • In the end, Mei's parents, after seeing her defend their home using the Dragon Sword, react with pride instead of anger like she assumed, assuring Mei of their love for her despite them not always agreeing and that they care more about her safety than the priceless artifacts broken in the ordeal.
Mr. Dragon: The Dragon Blade is the pride of our family heritage. Its power only shows itself to those that embrace their history. Their family.
Mrs. Dragon: We may not always see eye-to-eye, and your friends are more unique than we expected, but you are a part of this family. And it is part of you. We love you.
  • Noodles or Death
    • Tang saying that MK sees him as a father figure, with the tone making it clear the sentiment is reciprocated.
    • Pigsy and Tang putting aside their argument the second they see MK in danger.
  • Calabash
  • The Great Wall Race
    • Tang and Pigsy watching the race (the former with a dragon hat and a flag with Mei's face on it) to support their friend.
    • After MK acknowledges how much of a jerk he was, he and Mei quickly make up, managing to win the race in the process.
  • Impossible Delivery
    • Monkey King's praise of how far MK has come in training. And at the end of the episode, is happy to hear that he has taken the lesson on how to focus to heart.
    • Even though Pigsy threatens to fire MK and replace him with a robot if he doesn't complete all of the day's deliveries, it definitely comes off more as a form of Tough Love on his part.
      • Notice, when MK goes from pretending to be fine despite his intense anxiety to clearly distressed, Pigsy drops the act and asks if he's ok.
  • Macaque
    • Monkey King arrives in the climax of the episode to protect MK from Macaque, and even if it puts him on the ropes he chooses to hold back during the fight specifically so MK won't be caught in the crossfire.
      • Not only that, but when Macaque’s defeat sets off an explosion of power, Monkey King instantly flies to MK and hugs him to shield him from the blast.
    • At the end of the episode Monkey King is still angry with MK for taking up another mentor behind his back until the latter admits he just wanted to be like him — after which he comforts MK and assures him that he doesn't plan to stop their training.
  • The End Is Here!
    • After saying he intended to confront DBK on his own, the rest immediately veto that, making it clear they will support him every step of the way, even the normally irate Pigsy.
    • When a possessed DBK goes to attack Red Son, Princess Iron Fan intercepts, deciding he'd gone too far and needed to give up his power source/possession.
    • After DBK is freed from his possession, he slowly realizes and is horrified that he just attacked his wife and son. It's at this moment Princess Iron Fan goes to comfort him, just relieved that her husband is back, with Red Son watching them with a smile. They may be villains, but the Demon Bull Family do all genuinely love each other.

    Season 2
  • Revenge of the Spider Queen
    • At the end of their training session, Monkey King lays out a lovely spread for celebrating the New Year, and invites MK to sit and watch the fireworks with him. Even though MK initially refuses to go meet his friends, with Monkey King simply shrugging in response, he then decides to stay — and while not overtly showing it, Monkey King definitely seems pleased to have the company.
      • Off to the side of the frame, you can see Monkey King made little figurines of his old friends from Journey To The West. Can double as a tearjerker when one thinks about how long he has likely been without them.
      • Monkey King's genuine excitement watching the fireworks can be adorable to watch, still loving them even after likely seeing thousands of fireworks shows by this point in his immortality.
    • MK is deeply torn up about seeing Monkey King captured to the point he snaps at Mei, but his friends are understanding and take the time to comfort him.
      • After some literal self-reflection MK renews his confidence and is back to his usual high spirits, his friends are very happy upon seeing that he is.
MK: Sorry, I just... I don't know what to do.
Pigsy: Kid, no one ever does. Not really.
Mei: But we're going to figure this out.
        Tang: Together.
    • Red Son and DBK get some father-son relationship development, the former willing to team up with the heroes to save him, and the latter proving that he does truly care for Red Son — saving him from Spider Queen and finally giving him the fatherly acknowledgment, he's been craving since the beginning of the show.
      • DBK is also shown to become deeply insulted when anyone implies that his wife is weak.
    • Monkey King deliberately riled up DBK by talking about what Spider Queen could be doing to his wife and son solely to get him angry enough to break free. When he frantically attempts to tell DBK this when the latter has him pinned, he responds he knows... before freeing him from the cocoon. Monkey King honestly says he missed him, implying the two used to share a friendship.
      • Later on, right before the Spider Queens mech explodes, DBK leaps into action, shielding MK and Monkey King from the blast, implying that Monkey King's words had a grain of truth.
    • One for Spider Queen's henchmen, surprisingly. When the Huntsman is just about to attempt to jump the gap to try and catch MK and the others. The Strong Spider grabs the Huntsman up in a Bear Hug and stops him. Though it's not to get the glory for himself, he was actually saving the Huntsman from what could have been a nasty fall.
Huntsman: What are you doing?! I could have made it!
Strong Spider: Aww, sure you could buddy.
  • Sleep Bug
    • After MK registers his name for the Cloud, the guards are surprisingly cordial, helping him through the registration process and encouraging him to read the many books available there.
  • Dumpling Destruction
    • Despite appearing nonchalant about the titular meteor-sized dumpling when informing MK, when the scene cuts back to what Monkey King is up to, he warns the being in the Celestial Realm 'no to drop any more food' in a coldly furious tone, implying he is angry his student was placed in danger.
    • Despite expectations, MK chooses Tang to help him in the mission over Mei, citing faith in the man's extensive knowledge of the Monkey King legend. And while he grows increasingly irritated over the episode, he never snaps at him and listens to his advice on what relic to choose.
    • Likewise, Tang jumps in to help MK against Huntsman and defensively calls him a Monkie Man when the latter derisively calls him a kid.
  • Sweet N' Sour
    • Pigsy has a photo board in his kitchen showing pictures of him throughout his life — making noodles with his grandmother as a child, him with Tang and Sandy when they were younger, the day he opened up his restaurant (with his grandmother there for it), and the newest addition; a picture of him winning Food Wars with MK.
    • It can be noted that Pigsy's noodle recipes are ones that have been learned and passed down through his family, and by the end of the episode is teaching MK those same recipes.
    • MK's speech where he refuses to back down from the competition and fight for Pigsy to keep his noodle shop:
MK: I may not understand your irrational love for noodles, or working hard, or being angry all the time, but you are always there when I need you, so it's time for me to return the favor!
  • Minor Scale
    • Even though it turns out to be Lady Bone Demon using her child host to trick him, MK is incredibly gentle and comforting upon encountering who he thinks is a scared, lost, crying little girl.
MK: It's okay, I get it. It's scary being alone, but you're not alone now. You've got me. We'll find a way out together. I promise.
  • Game On
    • While it's partially motivated by wanting to learn new powers, the premise of the episode is mostly MK playing video games and having fun, something he sorely needed after the last episode. The ending of him, Mei and Sandy laughing together really drives this home.
  • Shadow Play
    • The episode starts with everyone inviting MK to shadow play in order to make up for the reduced time he's spent with them while training. Even Pigsy says he's earned a day off.
    • Believe it or not, we get one from Macaque, who decides to set MK's friends free after seeing how rattled he is from his encounter with the Lady Bone Demon. Despite brushing it off, the fact that he still refers to MK as his student (and subsequent warning about what is coming) indicates that he does care for his one-time student, even affirming that he meant it when he called him 'a good kid'.
  • To Catch a Leaf
    • The episode fully shows off just how much of a Nice Guy Sandy is, taking time out of his trek to help out any animals he finds along the way, whether it be feeding monkeys, or rescuing a bird from a snake. The latter in particular has him move the birds out of the way and leaves tea for the snake instead. He even states in his 'fight' with Huntsman that he just loves helping out his friends.
      • They all return the favor in the climax, helping him break free from Huntsman.
    • Despite the guy previously trying to kill him and currently taunting him about his Actual Pacifist status, Sandy is continuously friendly towards Huntsman, repeatedly offering to talk things out over tea. Even after having his Trauma Button mashed he simply tells him to leave. In the end, Huntsman finds the tea he offered in his pocket, seeming to give his offer some thought.
      • This ending can double as a tearjerker after season 3, as Huntsman now won't get the chance to come around to Sandy's kindness.
  • 72 Transformations
    • Despite their previous animosity and her being his biggest fear, MK has a moment of empathy for the Spider Queen upon learning she was trying to prepare for the Lady Bone Demon, saying he is scared of her as well. He even offers an Enemy Mine to take her down, pulling his punch at the last second during their fight.
    • Spider Queen pulling off a Heroic Sacrifice to let MK get away, wishing him luck.
  • This Is The End
    • Mei is once again being a supportive best friend and hype man for MK and also immediately notices that MK is upset and hiding his feelings when Monkey King is mentioned.
    • Mixed with Tearjerker, but Pigsy chewing out Monkey King for failing to be there to help MK, furious on his employees' behalf.
    • After revealing he has a lead on a weapon to defeat the Lady Bone Demon, Monkey King is initially against the others joining, citing their mortality, clearly concerned for their safety. After a Rousing Speech from MK on The Power of Friendship, he concedes, proud of how far his apprentice has come.

    Season 3
  • Great Grand Dragon of the East
    • Mei meets her distant uncle Dragon of the East, and while he initially attempts to hold her and the rest of the heroes in his city, he immediately acknowledges Mei as his family, and at the end of the episode decides to hold off Macaque to allow her and the others to escape.
Mei: (grabs Dragon of the East's arm) Thank you, great, great, thousand times great uncle!
Dragon of the East: (puts his hand over Mei's and smiles)
  • Smartie Kid
    • Pigsy shows concern when MK implies he doesn't think himself worthy of Monkey King's time now that he's been Brought Down to Normal and doesn't have his staff, and tries to tell him that he shouldn't have to base himself off his powers. At the end of the episode, Monkey King wakes up and tells MK that the staff and his powers aren't what makes him special — he can regain and wield them because he's already special.
  • The First Ring
    • The Demon Bull Family are once again shown to have gotten much closer since the first season, having planned for a nice family dinner together - and when speaking to the heroes about the Fire of Samadhi, Princess Iron Fan and Demon Bull King show genuine regret and concern upon recounting how Red Son is the one the Samadhi Fire originates from and that they had to make the difficult choice to remove it from him when it proved too dangerous for him or anyone else to handle.
      • In the flashback showing how the Samadhi Fire was sealed into three rings, Wukong and Ne Zha are seen staring at their rings in wonder. The Demon Bull King, on the other hand, drops it on the ground like a discarded trinket and rushes over to catch his son.
    • During their stay at the Demon Bull Family's castle, MK, Sandy, and Mei are provided with a warm meal and even a place to sleep. Even better, after Red Son sarcastically asks if they wish for some warm milk and extra blankets, MK says yes. Later we see him with a glass of milk and a blanket. He might find MK annoying, but he's a good host.
  • Cooking with Chan'g'e
    • Chang'e is so excited to see Sun Wukong and Monkie Kid, getting as many selfies as she can.
    • Chang'e is quick to let MK take the ring that was from her cooking studio as she knew that it was going to be important; what she was really after was her cookbook that Pigsy stole...
    • Because he was putting one of his recipes into her book because he's such a huge fan of hers. For this, Chang'e not only forgives him but he's allowed to be on the next episode of her show!
  • Benched
    • Throughout the episode, Tang struggles with feeling sidelined due to not being as powerful as the rest of the team — but when Macaque expresses his view that it's better off being alone and that friendship doesn't matter, Tang disagrees entirely, stating even if he doesn't know his own purpose yet, he knows that he can always count on his friends, and wants to become someone they can count on someday.
Tang: I know I'm not as strong as they are. I may still be searching for my purpose, but what I do know is that doing it alone is not the path I'm destined to take. Deep in my heart, I know that my place is alongside my friends. One day, I will become someone they can depend on, the way that I can always depend on them. As long as we stand together, there will always be hope!
    • The crumpled drawing of Tang that MK threw out at the beginning of the episode, striking a nerve with the former's insecurities, actually turns out to be a sweet picture of the whole gang with Tang in the center as the core of the team.
    • MK climbs onto Wukong's shoulders without hesitation. Wukong simply holds onto his ankles to keep him steady.
  • The Samadhi Fire
    • This is a pretty heavy episode from start to finish, but in the end remains of the gang (MK, Tang, Pigsy, and Sandy) split up with a group hug, and Pigsy gives MK his own jacket to wear after his was burnt away.
    • MK doesn't hesitate to (literally) run into fire to save a Samadhi-powered Mei during her meltdown even after Ne Zha tells the group she's beyond saving, delivering her a Cooldown Hug and promising he will be there to help her through her pain the same way she has always done for him.
  • This Imperfect World
    • Red Son and Mei form a genuine bond over the course of their training to control the Samadhi Fire, particularly with Red Son relating to Mei's fears of being unable to handle this power and failing those she loves. He even gives her some reassurance over this, telling her he knows she won't fail because he's seen just how much she and MK care about saving and protecting others, including his family. That kind of respect coming from him would have been unheard of two seasons ago.
    • When MK begins to worry, he'll only act as a hindrance to Monkey King when he and Ne Zha arrive to stop him from facing Lady Bone Demon alone, Ne Zha assures the young hero that Monkey King cares about him and lot and that he needs someone looking out for him as much as anyone else does, and that right now there is no one else better suited to do so than him.
Ne Zha: I've known Sun Wukong a long time. He's not the loner he pretends to be. He seems important to you. So, I can only assume you're equally important to him. If there's anyone he needs right now, it's you.
  • The Corrupted King
    • MK reunites with Mei, and is absolutely overjoyed and relieved to see she's all right after the events of "The Samadhi Fire". She, in turn, gives all the credit to Red Son for helping her learn how to control the Samadhi Fire.
    • When Tang is hesitant to accept that he could be a reincarnation of The Great Monk Tang Sanzang due to his insecurities, there's this:
Tang: It's just... compared to The Great Monk, I'm not... great.
Pigsy: (places a hang on Tang's shoulder) You're pretty great to me, Tang. And besides, your story ain't over. Not yet.
  • Time To Be Warriors
    • If there was any doubt before, Red Son has finally embraced being a hero, fitting right in as a new member of the team and showing real respect to MK and the others. He also expresses genuine worry for Mei when he, Sandy, Tang, and Pigsy break into the Bone Mech and find her imprisoned, immediately setting to work trying to free her.
    • Red Son isn't the only one to make a Heel–Face Turn this episode; while Macaque may not fill the part of a stand-up hero, he is finally convinced by MK to do what true warriors do and fight for a second chance in the battle against Lady Bone Demon.
MK: We can do this, you can do this!
Macaque: (doubtful) Nice speech kid, but it's not gonna-
MK: Argh! Stop! You keep playing at being this bad guy, acting like you're just in it for you. But I know, deep, deep down, you're not that guy. Help us. Make it right.
Macaque: I'm not a hero, bud.
      MK: Then be a warrior.
Macaque: (looks on in awe for a moment, before chuckling) Okay, kid. You win.
  • Destiny Fulfilled
    • As the conclusion to the arc that's unfolded over the past three seasons, all our main heroes — as well some new ones in the form of Red Son, Ne Zha and Macaque — come together to save the world, given power from everyone they've helped and redeemed over the journey, creating a gigantic, golden Monkey Mech to deliver the final blow.
    • The Aesop; even if there is always pain and darkness in the world, the love and friendship we share with others makes it possible to get through it, and makes it worth fighting for.
    • Mei fully embraces the power of the Samadhi Fire thanks to Red Son's speech to her in the heart of the Bone Mech, and the two are shown being quite cozy with one another after the final battle.
    • In the closing sequence, the Demon Bull Family are happily eating Pigsy's noodles together, with both of Red Son's parents looking at him with pride.
    • The young girl Lady Bone Demon has been possessing for the past two seasons is finally freed and is seen at the celebratory meal with the heroes (with Ne Zha also there), and it's shown she even starts hanging around the noodle shop after the fact!
    • Monkey King genuinely apologizes for not being the best mentor to MK, promising to do better, and the latter gently accepts it while also joking around to lighten the mood.
      • Also, what exactly did it take to break Monkey King free from Lady Bone Demon's possession, one may wonder? It was seeing his protégé refusing to give up on him, and refusing to bend to Lady Bone Demon.
    • Macaque parts ways with MK on good terms, and at the end of the episode is shown getting his own delivery of noodles from the latter with a cute drawing attached to it, genuinely smiling.
    • Also, as a bonus, Scorpion Queen is shown hanging out with Jin and Yin, finally getting the friends that she always wanted. Even the local Tudi appears to pop in on her for a visit.

    Season 4
  • Familiar Tales
    • Mei expressing concern when MK displays signs of still being affected by the entire Lady Bone Demon incident.
    • Monkey King compliments MK on how far he's come, in terms of both powers and competence as a hero, and outright says he's already done more to help the world than Wukong himself. High praise given his lifespan.
  • The New Adventure
    • Young Monkey King and Macaque's friendship, which truly was a close one. When Macaque expresses worry about the plan to rebel against the Jade Emperor, Monkey King assures him that once the war is over, the two of them will get to stay together on Flower Fruit Mountain and do whatever they want for the rest of eternity, as best friends and sworn brothers. Flashback or no, this is the first time in the series that we see Macaque give a genuine, happy smile. Of course, this also becomes a Tear Jerker considering how things turn out for them.
      • Also, Monkey King also used to refer to Macaque as "bud" just as he does with MK now.
    • In the flashback, the other Demon Kings first look to Azure Lion as the best candidate to take the throne after the Jade Emperor's defeat, but he instead declares Monkey King the clear choice as his bravery and passion brought all of them together in the first place, referring to him as "brother" all the while.
    • Azure Lion agrees to help MK and Mei for the sake of his former brotherhood with Monkey King. MK even calls him "Uncy Lion" which he accepts happily.
    • Also, half Tear Jerker — the credits of the episode give a dedication to Macaque's late voice actor, Billy Kametz.
  • The Great Tang Man
    • Once MK and Mei get through to Tang by reminding him of the strength he draws from his friends, Tang is able to help the Ghost Grandpa say goodbye to his family and pass on in peace.
  • Pig-Napped!
    • Tang talking up Pigsy's culinary skills to "Zhu Ganglie", expressing just how much he admires and respects his friend. He's overjoyed and cuddles up to Pigsy once he is awoken from his former past life.
  • The Court of the Yellow Robed Demon
    • Tang's happiness at having found Mo in the Scroll.
    • MK states completely outright that he views Pigsy as his dad, right in front of him.
    • Downplayed, but while the rest of the Demon Kings are plotting to end Monkey King for his apparent betrayal of them to the Celestial Realm, Macaque is actually hesitant and trying to suggest they consider alternatives — still trying to protect his best friend even after he's supposedly left him behind.
    • Mei meets her thousand times great grandfather Ao Lie, and as he holds off Kui Mulang to buy her and Tang time to get away, she's sure to tell him how cool she thinks he is.
Mei: I knew you were cool!
Ao Lie: (touched) You really think so?
  • Show Me The Monster
    • Pigsy finding Sandy (or Sha Wujing) and despite the latter dragging him into a death match, refuses to fight his friend. Even after he does give in and starts fighting, when Pigsy has his opponent at his mercy, he puts down his weapon and implores the demon to stop fighting, in the process giving a heartfelt speech about the virtues of his old friend and how admirable he finds his refusal to use his sheer strength for anything other than helping and protecting others.
      • Related, Sandy's memories are restored after reuniting with Mo, showing how much his dear therapy cat means to him. Which also leads to...
      • Sandy apologizes to Pigsy for his actions in their fight, with Pigsy easily brushing it off, noting that with all the times Sandy's carried them, he was happy to return the favor. This is then followed up by the reunited team sharing a group hug.
    • We get to see a flashback of how MK and Pigsy met. When Master Subodhi asks MK about his parents, the only thing he can recall is wandering around as a lost, mud-covered child before stumbling upon Pigsy's Noodles. There, Pigsy takes MK in, gives him his clothes, and feeds him noodles as he comforts the confused little boy. When MK calls Pigsy his dad, he's not exaggerating — he's the one who raised him.
  • Pitiful Creatures
Monkey King: I won't let some curse bully me or my friends a second longer!
  • The Brotherhood
    • Even though Azure Lion turns out to be a villain, his dedication to his sworn brothers and happiness at reuniting with them, and them with him in turn, is truly genuine. Too bad it's not happening under any other circumstances.
    • Even though most of the Brotherhood was torn apart after their war against the Jade Emperor failed, Demon Bull King got to meet Princess Iron Fan — on the battlefield, with her on the side of Heaven, turns out — and instantly fell, presumably managing to get away from the consequences to start a life with her.
  • The Roast Of The Monkie Kids
    • When Azure Lion starts throwing insults at Princess Iron Fan for "taming" Demon Bull King. DBK flies into a rage for anyone daring to speak of his wife that way.
Azure: The Demon Bull King I used to know would not bend so willingly! He was strong! (glares at Princess Iron Fan) But it appears the beast has been tamed by the charms of the Celestial Maiden.
DBK: (eyes start glowing as he powers up) Do not speak of my wife. Do not even look at her!
    • When Macaque sees MK’s Monkey form and just how depressed he is, he quickly drops any plan to mess with the kid and tries to comfort him instead, even complimenting his new form.
  • The Jade Emperor
    • Macaque actually helping MK with what he went through this season. After his video game doesn't work, he tells MK outright that he doesn't have to abide by the choices other people lay out for him — he should start deciding things for himself, something Macaque has had to learn through his own experiences. This turns out to be what MK needs to snap out of his funk and go save his friends.
Macaque: Only you can decide who you are, kiddo.
    • Pigsy reuniting with MK: "We missed you... son."
  • A Lifetime Of Mistakes
    • Upon entering the damaged Scroll piece to rescue Monkey King, MK and Macaque encounter the monkeys who had been trapped alongside him — who all happily greet the shadow monkey without any sign of fear, much to Macaque's annoyance.
    • When finding an understandably tired and pained Monkey King after he's been trapped within his worst memories, MK repeats the advice that his mentor gave him at the beginning of the season — that they can't undo the mistakes they made in the past, but they can work to make things better in the present.
MK: We can't fix everything. We just need to leave it a little better than when we found it. As long as we stay true to that, we can deal with whatever comes next.
    • After said speech, Monkey King looks to Macaque before making a decision, both having just relived the memories of their past friendship and the mistakes they made that tore them apart...and the two share a soft smile.
  • The Plan Man
    • In the flashback at the beginning of the episode of Monkey King and the Brotherhood on the morning of their rebellion against Heaven, Monkey King notices Macaque struggling with his armour and tries to help him fix it, fussing over his best friend in a sweet way.
    • When trying to come up with a plan to defeat Azure and the Brotherhood, MK emphasizes that upon retrieving the Scroll of Memory from Azure, the first thing they will do is free the Demon Bull family trapped within — even going so far as to refer to the demon family as friends.
  • Rip and Tear
    • Oddly enough, Azure going out of his way to warn off MK, offering him a chance to walk away from the fight altogether. For his part, MK hugs Monkey King and adamantly refuses to abandon his mentor.
  • Better Than We found It
    • The Little Girl that Lady Bone Demon possessed appears once more, and shows happiness upon seeing her heroes from last season save the day once more. Not to mention, she finally got her cat back!
    • At the end of the episode, The Monkie Kids finally have that beach day MK wanted after their victory. The Demon Bull Family also join them, the former enemies having some fun and relaxation together after the ordeal they went through this season.
    • Macaque shows up to the beach party, sitting with Monkey King under the same tree they used to eat peaches under in their youth — the latter sharing a peach popsicle with the former and having an amicable conversation about what will come next. Even though they are far from being friends again, if they ever can be, it’s heartfelt enough to see that the two monkeys are finally on speaking terms once more after centuries of animosity.
      • Special mention goes to how even though Monkey King was annoyed that Macaque pulled up an umbrella to block the sun, he doesn’t make him remove it, and even thanks him for coming (albeit snappishly). He then listens to and accepts Macaque’s warning about the future, but still reassures his former friend that they’ll work together to handle it.
