"Ha-ha, this-a-way, ha-ha, that-a-way, ha-ha, this-a-way, my, oh, my."
— The show's theme song

Wizbit is a 1980s BBC children's television show about an alien magician, Wizbit. It starred conjuror Paul Daniels and wife Debbie McGee.

The series is set in Puzzleopolis, a town inhabited by walking, talking sponge-balls, dice, magic wands, playing cards and rabbits, where the protagonists must solve puzzles. Wizbit's year-and-a-day mission is to find out all about planet Earth.

The show is partly educational, with the (often lateral thinking) puzzles Wizbit is set often being presented to the audience at home, with the solutions being revealed towards the end of the episode. Wizbit's magic word is "Ostagazuzulum", and he came from the planet WOW, an acronym for "World of Wizards".

Wizbit contains examples of:

  • All Witches Have Cats: Rather, wizard. Professor Doom has a black cat named Jinx.
  • Animate Inanimate Object:
    • Wizbit is an alien wizard's hat.
    • Some of Puzzleopolis's inhabitants include living sponge-balls, dice, magic wands, and playing cards.
  • Arc Words: In the episode "Badbit", a character with that name and whoever he is talking to gives this dialogue:
    Badbit: Get it?
Whoever he is talking to: Got it.
    Badbit: Good.
  • Artificial Human: Badbit is an android clone of Wizbit made by Professor Doom. Wizbit takes advantage of his robotic nature to reprogram him against the professor.
  • Blob Monster: Squidgy Bog is a living purple blob that makes up a bog outside of Puzzleopolis.
  • Character Title: There's a character named Wizbit in the show.
  • Evil Knockoff: Badbit is an evil version of Wizbit made to get Wizbit in trouble with the citizens.
  • Evil Sorcerer: Professor Doom is an evil wizard, in contrast to the heroic Wizbit.
  • Evil Twin: The episode "Badbit" features the titular android creation of Professor Doom, made to make Wizbit look bad.
  • Fox-Chicken-Grain Puzzle: The episode "A Game of Hanky-Poo" shows Wooly in one of these.
  • Ominous Floating Castle: Professor Doom's castle is built on a giant stone fist hovering in the sky.
  • One-Word Title: It's a Character Title.
  • Pull a Rabbit out of My Hat: Referenced in that, in a world based on magic tricks, the white rabbit Wooly lives in a giant top hat.
  • Stock Animal Diet: Wooly's Trademark Favorite Food is carrots.
  • Wizards from Outer Space: Wizbit himself is one.
  • A Year and a Day: The duration of Wizbit's sojourn on Earth.
