Sandbox / I Am The Band Wick Check

Go To

I Am the Band has no coherent definition and is being used for multiple different ideas at once. Sometimes it's when one member of it has been present for the whole time the band has existed, while all the others originally there have left. Other times it's a single member who is too controlling. And then there is the completely different and contradictory definition that there is no band at all; it's a solo artist who for some reason gives off the impression of being a full band.

    Solo artist
  • C418: C418 is Daniel Rosenfeld, playing keyboards and synthesizers with himself.

    Only constant member
  • Attila (Metalcore): Chris "Fronzilla" Fronz is the only consistent member.
  • Asia: Geoff Downes and John Payne were essentially Asia during the 1990s, with Geoff being the only constant between the John Payne and John Wetton lineups.
  • Bloodhound Gang: Starting with One Fierce Beer Coaster, Jimmy Pop wrote and produced most of the band songs and was the only consistent member from their formation to their breakup.
  • Breaking Benjamin: Since 2011, Ben Burnley is the only original member left.
  • Delerium: For most of their career, Delerium was comprised of Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber. After Fulber left in 2000 to create Conjure One, Leeb remained the sole member of Delerium, until Fulber's return in 2003.
  • Evanescence: Amy is the only original member left. You can replace just about anyone in a band except for the singer without anyone noticing on a CD. Her aggressive firing of other members (sometimes even on the phone) doesn't help either.
  • Panic! at the Disco: Since 2015, Brendon Urie has been the only official member of the band.

    Face Of The Band
  • Autopsy: While three quarters of the band have been present since the inception of Autopsy, Reifert is both the face and main creative force in the band.
  • Brian May: His first band after Queen was called "The Brian May Band".
  • Dexys Midnight Runners: To the point where Too-Rye-Aye is specifically credited as being by "Kevin Rowland & Dexys Midnight Runners". Billy Adams and Helen O'Hara became a lot more prevalent by the time of Don't Stand Me Down, mostly because of their significant contributions to the album and its artistic direction, partially because they were the only other members left. Rowland even appointed O'Hara as the band's "musical director." Rowland and trombonist "Big" Jim Paterson are the only two band members to appear on every Dexys album.
  • The Police: Enforced by Sting and got progressively worse over the years, much to the chagrin of the other two. Copeland was even more upset because he was the one who started the band.
