Films — Animation

  • Looney Tunes: Back in Action: The Persistence of Memory is one of the paintings Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck pass through while being pursued by Elmer Fudd at the museum. The more time they spend within the painting, the droopier they get. When Elmer yells after them while inside, his words come out as symbols.

Films — Live-Action

Video Games

  • Animal Restaurant: The Reverie Register has a melting clock on the counter.
  • EarthBound: One enemy that Ness encounters in-game is Dali's Clock, a melting, anthropomorphic wall clock. For a while, it was widely believed that copyright issues surrounding this reference were keeping the game from seeing a re-release outside of Japan, though this rumor was eventually debunked.
  • Through the Looking Glass: The icon for "Clock" is a pocketwatch melting its way off a shelf.

Western Animation

  • Courage the Cowardly Dog: In "So in Louvre Are We Too" one of the places The Mona Lisa and The Thinker visit on their date is The Persistence of Memory, where Mona and the creatures of the painting try to get the indecisive Thinker to loosen up.
  • Hey Arnold!: In "Olga Comes Home", the melting clocks in Helga's dream resemble those in The Persistence of Memory.
  • The Patrick Star Show: When Patrick puts on a Surrealist mustache in "Dad's Stache Stash", it transforms him into a melting clock.
  • Star vs. the Forces of Evil: In "Freeze Day", the melting clocks on the Plains of Time are a reference to The Persistence of Memory.
