In the middle of a Renaissance fair in Scotland, a dragon starts terrorizing everyone.
This episode contains examples of the following:
- All for Nothing: The crook ended up believing in the legend of the dragon, and using it to his ends to try to scare everyone off while he searched for the treasure. Turns out the legend was just a bunch of tourist trap malarkey, to the point of the person who cooked it up shaving his eyebrows and claiming the dragon torched them — so the entire usual "Scooby-Doo" Hoax ends up being a free trip to jail and a complete waste of the perp's time.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: The episode has, well, a large dragon at large.
- Eyebrows Burned Off: The owner of the fair claims that the dragon is real enough to singe his eyebrows off. When the perp reveals that he was looking for the dragon's treasure, the owner reveals through his laughter that the whole story was something he made up for tourists. He shaved his eyebrows off to complete the ruse.
- The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Velma turns into a bit of a fangirl when it turns out that the fair invited the actor who played Lancelot in a teen TV show based on the King Arthur mythos. She asks him to sign her action figure and he gives her some preferential treatment. It doesn't stop her from busting him as the villain of the week.
- Not-So-Fake Prop Weapon: The villain is sabotaging a Renaissance Fair. One of the things he does is replace the prop lances with real ones just before a joust.
- Palate Propping: Used as a brief delaying tactic by Velma, who shoves a spear from one of the castle displays, point-up, into the dragon's mouth during the main chase sequence.
- Pushed at the Monster: While the dragon is attacking Fred, Velma and Daphne are watching from behind a tent. Velma (who's currently wearing a princess-like outfit) says it's too bad they don't have a damsel in distress, which would attract its attention...and Daphne shoves her out from behind the tent.
- Stock Punishment: When Shaggy and Scooby steal food from a vendor, they're dragged to a couple of stocks and strapped in while the crowd humiliates them with Produce Pelting. Of course, given that it's Shaggy and Scooby, the "humiliation" aspect flies right over their heads; they're more interested in the food. When the crowd spots the dragon and runs away, Shaggy actually protests, saying they deserve punishment.
- Unishment: When Shaggy and Scooby’s antics get them put in the stocks while people throw produce at them, twice. The two of them enjoy it as they eat the produce thrown at them.
- Unwillingly Girly Tomboy: Or maybe unwillingly girly bookworm. The owner of the fair insists that Velma dress up for the event like everyone else, despite her protests. She emerges wearing a princess-like dress and veiled hat and warns the rest of the gang not to say anything if they don't want to get hurt.
- You Just Had to Say It: While the girls are hiding and watching Fred trying to help Shaggy and Scooby who are being threatened by the eponymous dragon, Velma says it's too bad they don't have a damsel in distress because dragons like such damsels. Daphne immediately pushes her out of their safe hiding place. Not much later, Velma, waving her hand at the dragon, mutters to herself: "I had to open my big mouth".
