Go To

Original airdate: September 16, 1995

Brazil Nuts: Timon and Pumbaa stumble upon an all-you-can-eat bug buffet in the Amazon, which turns out to be a trap set by two snakes to lure them in for dinner.

South Sea Sick: Pumbaa gets sick after a feast, and Timon tries to cure him with various home remedies.

Song: The Lion Sleeps Tonight: Timon and Pumbaa go hunting for bugs in the jungle at night, unaware that the lion is very much awake and following them.

Brazil Nuts contains examples of:

  • Artistic License – Biology: Timon calls a capybara-like rodent a marmoset (a type of monkey). He might have meant a marmot, but marmots do not live in Brazil or in rainforests.
  • Balloon Belly: Timon gets one of these after dining himself silly at the restaurant.
  • Cassandra Truth: Pumbaa already has reservations about the bug buffet, never mind the fact that snakes are serving them, but Timon ignores his concerns and assumes he's being paranoid. Sure enough, Eddie and Ralph are indeed planning to fatten them up to eat.
  • Exit, Pursued by a Bear: After being dumped in the Amazon and savaged by piranhas, Eddie and Ralph are driven off by the giant chainsaw-wielding piranha and are never seen again.
Timon: Now that's what I call 'fast food'. (laughs as Pumbaa directs an unamused Aside Glance at the viewer)
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Timon and Pumbaa get revenge on the snakes by luring them into a fake fast food restaurant... which dumps them into the piranha-infested Amazon river.
  • Piranha Problem: A giant piranha wielding a chainsaw attacks the heroes at the start of the episode. At the end, Eddie and Ralph get bitten all over by multiple smaller piranha, then chased off by the bigger one.

South Sea Sick contains examples of:

  • Green Around the Gills: Pumbaa turns green as he falls ill, then turns blue, bright red and then orange with purple spots as Timon describes gross bugs they've eaten in the past.
  • Here We Go Again!: Pumbaa obligingly takes Timon's home remedy despite feeling better... and then ends up sick for real.
  • Sick Episode: The segment revolves around Pumbaa falling ill after eating a bad bug, with Timon trying to find a cure.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Pumbaa suggests that maybe he just needs to burp to cure himself, but Timon insists on trying his home remedies out to cure him. Sure enough, all Pumbaa has to do is burp and he feels immediately better.
