Recap / The Powerpuff Girls 2016 S 01 Ep 17 Once Upon A Townsville

Go To

A princess from a fairy tale realm named Bluebelle falls in into a magic well and into Townsville where she meets the girls. However Bluebelle is very steeped in her storybook role, believing a prince will come save her and willingly throws herself into mortal danger to the girls' annoyance. Thus they try to convince her that she doesn't need to adhere to the role of a damsel in distress.

Tropes

  • Accidental Kiss: When Buttercup pokes at Bluebelle after she catches her from the sky, Bluebelle mistakes her for Prince Charming as she wakes up and kisses her on the lips (onscreen).
  • Action Dress Rip: Bluebelle rips off her skirt when going to the dragon's lair. Spoofed when she later rips off her bloomers to reveal a second skirt underneath.
  • Be Yourself: While Bluebelle ultimately decides to look out for herself, she rebuffs the girls as well since she still likes princess-y things like dresses and singing.
  • Came from the Sky: How Bluebelle arrives in Townsville after falling into a magic well, dropping right out of the sky above the city. Luckily the girls were flying by and Buttercup catches her by accident.
  • Disney Creatures of the Farce: Bluebelle has Woodland Creatures dressing her and brushing her hair, and gets them to do the girls' hair as well. The animals include non-traditional creatures, such as a platypus and an iguana.
  • Distressed Damsel: Bluebelle is a willing example, though nearly in Too Dumb to Live levels since she nearly kills herself a few times trying to get her "prince" to come rescue her.
  • Dressed in Layers: Bluebelle somehow has a second hoop skirt under her bloomers.
  • "I Want" Song
  • Losing a Shoe in the Struggle: Bluebelle loses her shoes several times through the story, though oddly seems to keep recovering them.
  • Portal Pool: Princess Bluebelle arrives to Townsville by falling into a wishing well.
  • Shout-Out:
  • That Reminds Me of a Song: Bluebelle just loves to break out into song, and even gets the girls to join in.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Bluebelle eventually gets miffed when a dragon that was chasing her grabs the girls and takes them to his lair. Ultimately deciding she's not in the mood to wait for Prince Charming anymore and goes to save the girls by herself.
  • Trapped in Another World: Princess Bluebelle comes from fairy tale world yet oddly never returns to it once all is said and done.
  • A Wild Rapper Appears!: When the girls try to convince Bluebelle to be more independent they try to do so...through a rap song.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The whole story is basically one toward Enchanted only without the wicked witch villain.
