Michael returns from vacation just in time for inventory, and accidentally lets slip his big secret: Jan was his travel companion. Jim and Karen argue about where she should move.

- Big Brother Instinct: Dwight sees Pam crying and immediately asks who did this to her.
- Blatant Lies: Jan was in Scottsdale… It was very sunny.
- Call-Back: Darryl finds his lost iPod and speaker dock.
- Dude, Not Funny!: In the intro, Jim and everyone in a meeting mess with Dwight by saying he's doing inappropriate things as a tape recorder that Dwight brought to record the meeting is running. Everyone is having fun until Andy exclaims that he's cutting off Phyllis' head off with a chainsaw.
- Foreshadowing: The first thing Pam tells Michael when he gets back to the office is that Hannah quit and filed a complaint, and that he might be deposed. In S4's "The Deposition," he is, as part of Jan's attempt to sue Dunder-Mifflin, with the Jamaican vacation even being a major point of interest in the deposition.
- Freudian Slip: Jan's lie is that she was visiting Scottsdale, Arizona, rather than being in Jamaica with Michael Scott.
- Green-Eyed Epiphany: Not that she was ever really in denial of her feelings for Jim, but when Pam gets thanked by Karen for helping to smooth over her spat with Jim, it drives Pam to tears.
- Inconvenient Attraction: Jan hates that she's attracted to Michael, so much so that it drives her to treat him so terribly, it's painful to watch.
- Instant Web Hit: Michael accidentally emails a picture of himself with Jan in Jamaica to the warehouse, and within minutes, everyone in the company has a copy of it. And somehow a mural-sized poster gets to the warehouse wall.
- It's Not Porn, It's Art: Kevin takes the warehouse poster home, saying he doesn't have a lot of art.
- Not So Above It All: Phyllis gets in on messing with Dwight's tape recorder by claiming Jim Carrey has entered the office.
- Oh, Crap!: Michael tries to send the pic of Jan to Todd Packer, but clicks "packaging@dundermifflin.com" rather than "packer@dundermifflin.com", so Darryl gets it instead. Then when Packer says he got it from someone else, Michael reacts this way.
- Pet the Dog: When Dwight finds Pam crying in the hallway, he forgoes his normal hostility to her and sits down to hug her (admittedly, after threatening to beat up whoever did it and assuming it was PMS).
- Put on a Bus: Hannah quit while Michael was on vacation.
- Stepford Smiler: Pam manages to talk Jim into letting Karen move nearby him, confessing to the camera that she was happy to help them. The scene then cuts to her crying in private, as she is secretly in love with Jim and is heartbroken over the fact that he is with someone else.
- Tropical Island Adventure: Michael apparently thinks all tropical islands are interchangeable, since his trip to Jamaica inspires him to hold an "inventory luau" in the warehouse.
- Wham Episode: With Carol now out of the picture, Michael and Jan become an Official Couple here.
