Original air date: 4/13/2001 (produced in 2000)

Episode number: 3a

Timmy uses his fairy godparents to make himself the most popular kid in school — and ends up in court for abusing his magic and not showing gratitude to his fairy godparents.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Accidental Misnaming: At the end of the episode, Trixie accidentally calls Timmy "Tommy".
  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Timmy has his first run-in with this. He demands wishes from Cosmo and Wanda in an abrasive manner (without even thanking them for the wishes that were granted), while treating his friends like crap in favor of becoming popular.
  • All in the Manual: The scripts for the episode reveal that Trixie Tang is ten years old and is Asian-American.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Jorgen delivers one to Timmy at his trial, finally making him realize what a jerk he's been:
Jorgen: After bestowing all these wonderful things upon you, did you ever once thank your fairy godparents?
  • Big "NO!": Two in rapid succession:
Wanda: We're in Fairy Court, and Jorgen von Strangle is the persecutor!
    Timmy: Don't you mean 'prosecutor'?
    Wanda: No!
Cosmo: I'm gonna be the defense attorney!
    Timmy/Wanda: NOOO!
  • Blinded by the Light: Veronica after Timmy shows off his magically-endowed Twinkle Smile.
Veronica: MY EYES! MY PERFECT BLUE EYES!
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: After Timmy wishes to look popular and Chester and AJ ask where he got his clothes:
Timmy: Internet? ...Inheritance? ...I inherited the Internet!
  • Burning with Anger: When Jorgen objects to Timmy (having learned his lesson) being found not guilty, Wanda confronts him with flames erupting from her head, intimidating Jorgen into backing down.
  • Cool Shades: Timmy gets a pair while popular.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: As manic as Veronica was acting, she was right about how Timmy was faking his popularity. When Timmy confesses what he did, she even lampshades it.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • Timmy (temporarily) loses his fairies and doesn't get his memory wiped. This doesn't become a plot point until season 3.
    • Trixie briefly mentions having a mother. Later episodes imply that her father is a single parent (though they never outright say she doesn't have one).
  • Love Floats: Timmy floats in the air after Trixie kisses him on the cheek.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Trixie refers to Timmy as "Empty Bus Seat." This is due to her being so shallow to the point that she doesn’t acknowledge non popular kids as kids worthy of basic respect.
  • Pet the Dog: While going through Acquired Situational Narcissism, at least Timmy had the decency to still invite Chester AJ and Elmer to his party.
  • Simple Country Lawyer: Parodied during Cosmo's "defense" of Timmy at his trial:
Cosmo: Now, I may be just a simple fairy-slash-lawyer-slash-fireman...
  • Smooch of Victory: Trixie kisses Timmy on the cheek after he stands up to the popular kids, showing a respect for his choice, even if she ultimately goes with them.
  • Twinkle Smile: Timmy gets one so bright, it blinds Trixie and Veronica.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: The main reason why Timmy almost loses his fairies was because he never once thanked them during his wishing spree.
