Recap / The Fairly OddParents! S0E3 "Where's the Wand?!"

Go To

"Where's the Wand?" is the third of the Oh Yeah! Cartoons shorts, premiering on October 2, 1998. It is notably the only one of the pilot shots that wasn't collected into a proper episode and the only one to not be re-dubbed by Tara Strong.

Vicky goes to a costume party at her high school. However, much to the alarm of Timmy and his fairies, she gains access to Wanda's wand.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Captain Colorbeard: When playing their pirate game, Cosmo goes under the name Greenbeard. Timmy isn't impressed.
  • Characterization Marches On: Most prominent here than in any other short. Cosmo is the smarter one to Wanda, who does things like trying to wear two eye patches while playing pirate, or torpedoing Cosmo's plan to get the wand back out of jealousy.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Wanda ends up ruining Cosmo's plan to get the wand back because it involves flirting with Vicky.
  • Dragged into Drag: Cosmo and Wanda bring Timmy to the dance in a pumpkin coach, which turned out to include a dress because they couldn't "break the ensemble".
  • Dressed to Plunder: Cosmo and Wanda dress up in the traditional garb while playing pirate.
  • Ear Ache: Wanda pulls Cosmo by the ear after he catches him flirting with Vicky as part of the plan to get the wand back.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Both Cosmo and Wanda wear eye patches while playing pirate. Wanda tries wearing two at once.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: Cosmo and Wanda pull this off for the first time, and no one suspects a thing, not even when they're up on stage accepting an award.
  • Fully-Clothed Nudity: At the end of the short, Vicky is embarrassed when she's caught on stage in her full body undergarments.
  • Good Powers, Bad People: While Vicky is unaware that she has the powers, one of the reasons Cosmo, Wanda, and Timmy are desperate to get the wand from Vicky because of the havoc she could reek.
  • History with Celebrity: It's implied that Cosmo and Wanda were Cinderella's helpers in this short, what with the pumpkin carriage joke.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Cosmo and Wanda manage to annoy Timmy with their flirting.
  • Simple Solution Won't Work: Following Wanda losing her wand, Timmy tries to wish for her wand back, only for Wanda to reveal that whoever has the wand has control over it, so they can't wish it back.
  • Talk Like a Pirate: Naturally, Cosmo does so while playing pirate with Timmy.
  • Walk the Plank: Cosmo does this to Timmy as part of their pirate game.
  • Wingding Eyes: Vicky gets hearts in her eyes when a disguised Cosmo flirts with her.
