Star panics and goes on the run after accidentally crushing a police car.

Tropes:

  • All There in the Script: Brigid, the old lady Star meets, is never referred to by her name, which only appears in the credits.
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: The dragon's List Song about all the things you can do in his underwater realm includes "trash the economy" and "turn someone into bones".
  • Brick Joke: One of the terrible things about prison Marco rants about is having to wear ugly orange jump-suits. Later, Star is seen wearing an orange jump-suit while doing community service, and Marco comments that she actually pulls the look off.
  • Continuity Nod: Brigid's "animal friends" inexplicably include the heavily-bearded record store cashier from "The Banagic Incident".
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: Marco is disgusted that Star puts tons of sugar on her tacos.
  • Crazy Homeless People: Brigid, an old woman who lives by the river and makes things out of discarded hair. She tries to convince Star to turn herself in so she can see her family and friends again.
  • Fridge Logic: In-Universe, Star wonders how she could take a bath underwater.
  • Here We Go Again!: Star uses her magic wand again at the end, causing more chaos. Marco points out that was what got her into trouble the first time.
  • Hollywood Cuisine: Marco lectures to Star about authentic Mexican cuisine, and calls it a "sacrilege" when Star suggests adding sugar to his taco... But Marco is shown to be eating a hard-shell taco, which was invented in the USA and is not a part of typical Mexican cuisine; Mexican tacos are made with soft tortillas.
  • My Eyes Are Up Here: A non-sexual example. Brigid is staring at Star's horned hairband, and Star tells her that "my eyes are down here."
  • Opinion-Changing Dream: The dragon Star meets eventually admits he's a figment of her imagination trying to convince her that running away is a good idea. The prospect of having to never see her family and friends again (especially Marco) actually convinces Star to turn herself in to the police.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Turns out the cop car Star destroyed was scheduled to be retired and used in a demolition derby, so she panicked over nothing. The only punishment she gets is community service in the form of having to wash squad cars.
  • Shout-Out: Star floats by a submarine that looks very much like the Yellow Submarine.
  • Stealth Pun: That cop car Star wrecked was due to be decommissioned soon. So you could say it only had a few days 'til retirement.
  • Visual Innuendo: When Star makes a shelter after going into hiding, she uses her wand to poof up a giant bouncy castle, and the heads on the towers of the castle make it look quite phallic.
Star: Okay, maybe something less conspicuous.
  • Wingding Eyes: In the beginning when Star swallows down her sugary taco, her eyes become filled with blue spirals as a result of sugar rush.
