  • All for Nothing: Uncle Yuri goes home believing he wasted his time teaching Anya as she still doesn't understand what grammar is. Additionally, Loid learns that they spent the whole time studying Foreign Language when that won't even be on the tests.
  • Anti-Climax: Yuri's visit is this for Anya. When Anya is told that Yuri is coming over for a visit, she feels exited because she didn't meet him last time he was over, and when Yuri arrives, he and Loid share a tense greeting before Loid leaves the apartment so that Yuri can tutor Anya without too many distractions, much to the disappointment of Anya who wanted to the see the confrontation between her spy father and secret police uncle.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: A panicked Anya goes to her future seeing dog for answers on her upcoming midterms. He instead bestows a vision of a steak dinner which excites her enough to forget about her test until the next morning.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Anya ends up with low test scores and her father intends to be stricter with her in regards to future study sessions. But Loid does acknowledge that her scores are an improvement to what she started with that he decided not to tamper with them. Additionally, they're passable enough so Anya won't be stricken with any Tonitrus Bolts.
  • Blunder-Correcting Impulse: Twilight is dumbfounded by Daybreak's incompetence but manages to keep his criticisms confined to his own head, right up until Daybreak wants to sign his name on his work and he can't hold his tongue any longer.
  • Call-Back: While talking with his brother-in-law, Loid remembers his involvement in protecting the Prime Minister from Keith's terrorist plot. Anya would later remember about her inability to tell time or how to stop the bomb.
  • Child Prodigy:
    • Yuri confides in Anya that he studied and mastered various educational subjects in the hopes of using that knowledge for his sister's benefit.
    • The Desmond brothers are shown to have scored impressive test scores on their own right.
  • Colliding Criminal Conspiracies: Daybreak and Twilight's plots to perform a School Grade Hacking collide.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Yor doesn't understand how grading papers work; she believes Anya got a great score as she combined the five low level scores to make a hundred.
  • Commonality Connection: Anya invokes this by insisting she wants be an Imperel Scooter so she can be a successful adult who will take care of Yor and feed her good food. This is done to win over Yuri, who had such ambitions as a kid, so he'll stick to the tutor job.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Damian and his friends were originally planning on teasing Anya for her test results but they proved so bad they don't have the heart to go through with it. Anya doesn't care though since she managed to pass all her tests and avoided getting any more Tonitrus Bolts.
  • Flashback: Yor briefly remembers her childhood where her baby brother would help her with her studies.
  • The Infiltration: Believing that Anya failed her midterms and will most definitely be expelled from school, Loid decides to break into the academy's grading room to give her passable scores.
  • Jerkass to One: Yuri only accepted the tutoring request because his sister asked him to but he secretly detests Anya for being related to Loid and taking Yor's attention.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Daybreak dreams of being a world-famous spy who's as great as, no, BETTER, than Agent Twilight.
  • A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read: Anya is grossed out after reading Yuri's thoughts which consist of nothing but praise and worship for his sister.
  • Lunacy: Anya reveals that her telepathy powers are connected to moon activity and that New Moon means no power. Naturally, the midterms happen around New Moon.
  • Oh, Crap!: Anya reacts this when after realizing that her midterms will occur around the time of a New Moon phase. This means that she won't be able to use her psychic powers to cheat on the tests.
  • School Grade Hacking: Loid infiltrates the school grounds to fix Anya's grades so she will not fail class. He bumps into Daybreak who was hired to change the Desmond brothers' test scores so they would be expelled.
  • Shout-Out: Anya's latest meme face as she devises her plan to cheat on her midterms brings to mind The Grinch.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Agent Daybreak is a rookie spy out on his first mission and does such a miserable performance. Despite it all, he believes he's on his way to becoming a great spy and demands notoriety from everyone around him.
  • Unknown Rival: Daybreak hopes to establish himself as a superior rival against the Western Spy Twilight. Twilight never knew of him given his newbie status along with Daybreak being fired after his first mission.
  • Tap on the Head: Invoked when Twilight intentionally pretends to let his guard down (while disguised as a teacher) and allows Daybreak to knock him "out cold."
  • Willfully Weak: After being "knocked out" by Daybreak while inside the vault, Twilight pretends to be passed out just so the arrogant spy can finish his assignment and get out of his way without causing any more casualties.
