Recap / Special Agent Oso S 2 E 32

Go To

The Manny With The Golden Bear

Oso is sent to teach a boy named David how to ride his bike- unfortunately, David’s “new” (hand-me-down) bike turns out to be broken. But just when it seems like Oso’s mission might be uncompletable, David remembers that he knows someone who can fix his bike: Handy Manny!

Contains examples of:

  • A Dog Named "Perro": Oso’s name being this is pointed out by Felipe.
Felipe: Did you know that “Oso” means “bear” in Spanish?
  • An Aesop: Oso learns about the importance of asking friends for help.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Manny’s tools borrow half of one of Oso’s catchphrases.
Oso: It’s all part of the plan.
    Tools: More or less.
  • Crossover: With Handy Manny.
  • Credits Montage: The credits contain a montage of clips from the episode, set to “A Friend Like You”.
  • Disappeared Dad: David’s father doesn’t seem to be anywhere in the picture for his son.
  • Ending Theme: “A Friend Like You”, which mostly consists of Puns on the names of Special Agent Oso and Handy Manny.
  • Extra-Long Episode: A full 22-minute story, while most episodes of Special Agent Oso are Two Shorts.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: One happens when Oso drops a pun.
Oso: Having friends that can help you out sure comes in handy.
  • Four-Fingered Hands: Oddly, while humans in Special Agent Oso are usually depicted with five fingers, David and his mother have four. Presumably, this is to avoid clashing with the art style of Handy Manny, where humans have four fingers.
  • Friendship Song: Manny and Oso sing one called “Friends Help Friends”. There’s also “A Friend Like You”, which plays over the credits.
  • Hot Paint Job: The bike David got from his cousin Nick has flames painted on it.
  • Learning to Ride a Bike: David wants to learn to ride his new bike (apparently a hand-me-down from his cousin), but his mom is unable to teach him due to having a broken leg. So Oso has to teach him how to ride it.
  • Literal-Minded: Manny’s tools, upon hearing David’s mother’s leg is broken, offer to fix it. Manny then has to explain to them that that’s not how broken limbs work.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: On The Man with the Golden Gun.
  • Product Delivery Ordeal: Oso’s training exercise of the episode is to deliver a briefcase to an agent on a submarine. Naturally, this ensues.
  • Special Edition Title: The episode has a unique credits sequence, consisting of “A Friend Like You” played over a montage of clips of Manny and Oso working together.
  • Unnamed Parent: David’s mother.
