Recap / My Gym Partners A Monkey S 1 S 12 Grub Drive

Go To

The school is in desperate need of money, as the facility is running out of supplies. Principal Pixiefrog institutes a food drive, where students must sell boxes of chocolate covered grubs to people, so they can raise money. Adam and Jake run into trouble with selling, right from the very start.

  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Girl Scouts steal all of Adam and Jake’s money.
  • Big Eater: Everyone at the school ate their books.
  • Butt-Monkey: Adam and Jake were this to the girl scouts.
  • Door-to-Door Episode: A portion of this episode used this format.
  • Downer Ending: Adam and Jake failed to raise a single dollar and as punishment, had to pluck Mrs. Tusk's nosehairs. Although most episode end off pretty sucky for the main characters, this one in particular was worst of all, since Adam and Jake did literally nothing to deserve their punishment and even tried their darnedest to make money and help the school. Not to mention, this was after they were beaten senseless and robbed blind by a gang of evil girl scouts.
  • Enfant Terrible: The girl scouts.
  • Episode Code Number: During the musical number, when Principal Pixiefrog appeared on the faux dollar bill, the number "12" was seen as the dollar's production number. This is the 12th episode of the series.
  • Gratuitous Rap: Principal Pixiefrog, Mrs. Warthog, and Mr. Mandrill all burst into a spontaneous rap number, that's often called either "Sell Sell Sell" or "You Gotta Sell", which explained how much money meant to the school at the point and helped explain to the students (and the audience) how a food drive worked and how it could help them raise money. This was also rather out of nowhere, and was forgotten as quickly as it was introduced, making this especially bizarre.
  • Saving the Orphanage: The school needed money to keep itself afloat.
  • Shout-Out: The book the students were reading in literature class was Moby-Dick.
  • Terrible Trio: The girl scouts.
  • Undesirable Prize: A hot dog squeaky toy for whoever sold all of their boxes. But to be fair, not having to wash dishes with Mrs. Tusk is enough of a reward on it's own.
  • Work Off the Debt: The stakes for this episode were that if you failed to sell any boxes, you had to wash the dishes with Mrs. Tusk, to make up for the money they lost.
