- The Alleged Car: Old Betsy is highly prone to breaking down or "taking a nap," as Randall calls it, at the worst possible times. Randall still insists she's reliable.
- All There in the Script: The subtitles and credits reveal that the scientist Molly and Tooey speak to about Glog is called Latoya.
- Good Luck Charm: Randall tells Molly that his favorite halibut hook has always brought him luck—before Glog stole it. When he finds the hook again, his faith in the hook's luck is restored.
- Imagine Spot: The episode opens with Molly imagining riding on an orca. The scene then cuts to Randall's boat sputtering to a halt.
- Misplaced Wildlife: Molly and Randall realize the California sea lion they've nicknamed Glog is not supposed to be in Alaska waters. One of the scientists tracking him explains that he's been spotted moving well north of his normal range.

- Fun with Acronyms: NORA stands for No Rest At All. And boy, does she mean it!
- Gasp!: The rest of the troupe is shocked that Trini would even suggest packing something other than quintessential Alaskan pilot bread.
- Insubstantial Ingredients: Walter claims pilot bread lasts forever because the main ingredient is "eternity."
- Victory Dance: Trini makes one up upon reaching the top of the mountain.
