Recap / Kaeloo S 2 E 8 Lets Play Marriage

Go To

Kaeloo holds a wedding to show Stumpy how weddings work. Circumstances result in Pretty being the bride and Quack Quack being the groom, to both of their chagrin (and Eugly's).

"Let's Play Prison Ball" contains the following tropes:

  • Attractive Bent-Gender: While trying to gain access to a girls-only nightclub, Stumpy puts on a wig and knocks on the door. The bouncer immediately falls for him.
  • Awful Wedded Life: Mr. Cat explains how this works to Pretty by showing her what would happen if he married her. It ends with Mr. Cat sitting on the couch watching soccer and yelling at her to get some beer, and in addition she has to share her money with him so he can pay off his loans.
  • Chippendales Dancers: The girls see some and try to grope them.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Pretty proclaims herself as the bride, and when Kaeloo tries to stop her since the groom is Quack Quack, and therefore Eugly should be the bride, Pretty informs her that she already bought a wedding dress and made sure she lost enough weight to be able to fit into it.
  • Disguised in Drag: Stumpy disguises himself as a girl to gain access to a girls-only nightclub.
  • Enormous Engagement Ring: Quack Quack buys a wedding ring for Pretty, who he is being forced to marry. Not only is the gem incredibly huge (according to the characters, since the audience can't see it), it's also shiny enough to set someone on fire.
  • Gender-Separated Ensemble Episode: The boys and the girls split up and go to different places. Subverted since Stumpy winds up disguising himself as a girl and joining the girls.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Pretty accuses Eugly of being selfish... while she prepares to marry Eugly's boyfriend so she can get a fancy wedding ring and dress.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Mr. Cat tries to hit Quack Quack with his mallet, but he's so intoxicated that he ends up hitting himself.
  • Impairment Shot: While Mr. Cat is drunk, one shot from his point of view has the camera wobble around.
  • Marriage of Convenience: Parodied. Pretty decides to get married - to Quack Quack, who she doesn't even like - just to get the chance to wear a wedding dress. When the others try to call her out on this, she goes on a rant about how much pain she had to endure to lose enough weight to be able to fit into the dress.
  • Mood Whiplash: Kaeloo, Stumpy, Quack Quack, Pretty and Eugly are watching TV. The show they're watching has a wedding scene. Pretty remarks, in admiration, that the actress playing the bride is beautiful. Then, she suddenly turns angry and calls the actress a "bitch" for being prettier than her.
  • Noodle Incident: "You don't know what I've been through in order to be able to fit in this dress!"
  • Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace: Kaeloo says this at Pretty and Quack Quack's wedding. Everyone, including the bride and groom themselves, objects to the wedding. This doesn't stop Kaeloo from marrying them off anyway.
  • Wedding Smashers: Everyone except Kaeloo and Mr. Cat gets into a huge fight and ruins the wedding.
