Tropes

  • Deadly Game: As a result of Sistermon Ciel's deal with MetalFantomon, any Digimon who falls behind the reaper Digimon in the race, or tries to ditch it, will have their soul be claimed by them. It also traps any human unfortunate enough to get in the middle of it, with similar, if not worse, results.
  • Dinky Drivers: Jellymon ends up driving a two-seater cart during the race, with her longer tentacles being used as a workaround for her short legs.
  • Deus ex Machina: With their go-karts no longer able to escape MetalFantomon, it seems like it's all but lights out for our heroes... At least until the BlackTailmon from the first episode suddenly showed up out of nowhere, managing to save them by warping the Nightly Procession Digimon, along with MetalFantomon and Sistermon Ciel, away via a portable digital gate.
  • Here We Go Again!: Ruli's about to suggest to her friends about doing something else fast, only for Kiyoshiro to quickly interrupt her by hanging up.
  • Karma Houdini:
    • Neither Sistermon Ceil or MetalFantomon get any real comeuppance for trapping people and Digimon in their Deadly Game outside of the BlackTailmon teleporting them out of the area.
    • Kiyoshiro keeps going on about getting caught about stealing the go-karts in the first place. The kids and their partners wind up getting away with it by the end anyway.
    • Outside of being forced to take part of the race, Jellymon ultimately gets away with enabling Sistermon Ceil's Speed Demon habit.
  • Skewed Priorities: Kiyoshiro is worried more about stealing the go-karts in the first place than trying to stop the race.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: A truck driver at first sees Sistermon Ceil kick the roof of an automated car and assumes it's just an advertisement. He quickly realizes it's not the case when the other Digimon show up and cause him to crash his truck, blowing up into a fireball and killing him in the process.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: It's unknown what happened to the couple in the automated car at the beginning.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Neither Sistermon Ceil or MetalFantomon have any qualms with endangering the lives of Hiro and his friends during the race. It's even implied by both Hiro and Jellymon that if MetalFantomon catches up to them, the children will also be absorbed by him, if not just outright killed.
