"Emma thinks these bowls are magically enchanted by flavor fairies of the forest."

A Plot: Wanda receives indignation from the Leroys when she accidentally breaks Emma's "enchanted" potato bowl, said to make any kind of potatoes put inside taste delicious. She attempts to make amends by replacing the bowl, but Emma refuses to take the new one as she feels not having the bowl has freed her to explore other cooking options. A feud breaks out when the town starts praising Wanda's potatoes made using the bowl, causing Emma to become jealous and want the bowl back.

B Plot: After witnessing Hank crash and burn attempting to tell a story, Lacey takes it upon herself to give him story telling tips. However, Hank notices a piece of food on her face, and Brent later encourages Hank to embellish the tale, earning Lacey an embarrassing nickname. When Hank later embellishes a tale about Brent, Lacey revels in the fact that Brent gets a taste of his own medicine.

C Plot: Oscar gets kicked out of the Harvesters Club for not paying his dues, so he starts his own club out of spite. He convinces Davis to join, and they initially shun Karen, calling it a men-only club. They change their minds when they see Karen's nicer sash. The club decides to collect for charity, but they can't decide which charity. However, after a successful day selling Wanda's magic potatoes, Davis and Karen notice the money's gone missing, because Oscar has used the money to pay his dues and get back into the Harvesters Club.

Tropes Referenced:

  • …And That Little Girl Was Me: Hank tries to tell a story this way in the Cold Open, except he accidentally starts off by mentioning it's about himself.
  • Call-Back: Oscar being part of the Harvesters Club is a plot point again.
  • Character Filibuster: Lacey's "slouching camping" story is implied to be this way. She even follows Wanda after the latter attempts to make an escape.
  • Disorganized Outline Speech: Both Hank's …And That Little Girl Was Me story and Lacey's Character Filibuster story can also fall into this category, as they have to backtrack to points they initially forgot to mention.
  • Double Meaning:
Lacey: I don't want to toot my own horn, but I was a member of the Toastmakers Club.
Hank: Look, Lacey, I know how to make toast. I need help telling stories.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: As a result of Hank's story (based on Brent's suggestion), Lacey becomes known as "Pork Chop Face" for the duration of the episode. Later, another Hank lie earns Brent the moniker "Coffee Crotch".
  • Hipster: Neither Emma nor Wanda want anything to do with potatoes or potato bowls once everyone in town has an enchanted bowl of their own, since the bowl is no longer one of a kind.
Emma: [bitterly] Potatoes aren't really good for you, you know.
Wanda: I know. Starches... carbs... Killers, really.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Brent is the initial reason Hank makes fun of Lacey. Hank then makes fun of Brent later. At the end of the episode, Lacey has the whole bar cracking up with a story that makes fun of both Brent and Hank.
  • Humble Pie: Lacey is proud to give Hank story telling tips, until she is humiliated when Hank points out a piece of bread from her sandwich is stuck to her chin.
  • Initiation Ceremony: Oscar initiates Davis into his club by hitting him with a stick. Later, when Karen is accepted, Davis warns her of the "gruelling" initiation ceremony... only for Oscar to tell her that she has to hit Davis with a stick. Of course, hitting Davis with a stick seemed to be the whole reason she wanted to join the club in the first place, and Oscar really wanted that nice sash, so it's possible he may have fudged the rules for her a little bit.
  • Lame Comeback: Davis sees Oscar with a sash and asks if he's won a beauty pageant, so Oscar claims he came last in a "Davis Is Stupid" pageant. Karen points out the flaw in his retort:
Karen: But you're in the pageant, so you're still stupid. Stupider than the average person, just not as stupid as Davis.
Davis: I've never even heard of this pageant.
  • Mass Super-Empowering Event: When Wanda reveals that she paid $50 for the replacement potato bowl, everyone agrees that the price is a steal for such a powerful enchanted item, and soon everyone in town has bought one or more.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Emma's bowl (and any other just like it) does seem to have a special effect on the potatoes produced inside. Not even Wanda seems to doubt its power by the end.
  • Malaproper:
    • Hank constantly forgets the word "embellish", calling it other words like "emboss", "embroider" or "embezzle".
    • Lacey says "Toastmakers" when the organization is called "Toastmasters".
  • Sarcasm-Blind: When Lacey sarcastically asks why Hank isn't calling her Pork Chop Face, he assumes she really wants to be called that:
Hank: Hey Pork Chop Face, can I get some coffee?
    Lacey: [offended] Hank!
Hank: Oh, sorry... Hey Pork Chop Face, can I get some coffee please?
  • Secret Handshake: An unseen one from Oscar's club. Apparently they do it a lot for such a short-lived group:
    Karen: I'm kinda bored.
Oscar: Wanna do the secret handshake again?
Karen: [looking at her hand] Nah, I'm already getting a callous.
  • Stealth Insult:
Emma: You know, not having the potato bowl isn't so bad. I feel kind of liberated, like a weight's been lifted off.
Oscar: [holding up what appears to be soy sauce] Hey, what's with the brown ketchup?
Emma: And yet another weight is still hanging around my neck.
