Recap / Code Prime - R2: Revolution, 22 "Sword of the Past - Shield of the Present"

Go To

Gamma Team arrives in the Australian Outback to retrieve the Iacon Relic, only to walk right into an ambush by Schneizel.

  • Adaptation Expansion: The relic of this chapter, the Skyboom Shield wasn't one of the Iacon Relics in the Prime cartoon.
  • Adaptational Wimp: The Skyboom Shield here, due to being a relic of the Primes, can only be used at its full potential when in the hands of a Prime, while to everyone else it is just an ordinary shield. This was not the case for other versions, where its powers were in effect regardless of whoever was using it.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Before decapitating her, Monica severs Glowstrike's arms.
  • Batman Gambit: Cornelia suspects that the whole battle was one by Schneizel to keep Megatron focused on Optimus and Lelouch so that he can form his own plans behind Megatron's back.
  • Boring, but Practical: Ultra Magnus isn't a Prime, but that doesn't stop him from using the Skyboom Shield as just a simple shield.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The chapter’s title refers to how Cornelia was once a sword of Britannia, but now she’s a shield of the Black Knights, along with how the artifact that Gamma team discover is the Skyboom Shield.
  • I Let You Win: Implied by Cornelia. At the end of the chapter, Cornelia tells Gilbert about how Schneizel is planning to backstab Megatron, and believes that by losing the battle, it'll keep Megatron focused on Optimus and Lelouch.
  • Internal Reveal: Schneizel reveals to Cornelia that he knows about Geass and C.C., as well as the fact that V.V. is their uncle.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Realizing that they’ve lost the battle, Schneizel orders his forces to evacuate back to Darkmount. Though Cornelia suspects that he lost on purpose.
  • Long Game: Acknowledged by Cornelia to be Schneizel's preferred strategy, which leaves the heroes wondering if their victory was merely one step in Schneizel's plan.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Without the power of the Primes, the Skyboom Shield is just a simple shield. Despite that, Ultra Magus puts it to good use in his fight with Scorponok.
  • Off with His Head!: Monica kills Glowstrike by cutting off her head.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: The Skyboom Shield is said to have the power to protect even against catastrophic-level attacks. However, due to being a relic of the Primes, it can only be used to this extent in the hands of a Prime. To everyone else, it is just an ordinary shield. Ultra Magnus manages to use it effectively despite not being able to use its full potential though.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: When Schneizel tells Cornelia how he intends to betray Megatron, and how he intends to bring about world peace, she tells him straight to his face that she doesn’t believe him when he says that he’s not looking to become the emperor of the world.
  • The Starscream: Schneizel establishes himself as one when he confirms Cornelia's suspicions that he's planning to backstab Megatron.
  • Tranquil Fury: Cornelia manages to remain almost completely calm while channelling her anger and hate towards her half-brother Schneizel when he holds her prisoner on the Avalon. Something that Schneizel acknowledges, as the old Cornelia would have acted completely differently from before.
