While slowly getting adjusted to his new life as Shen Qingqiu, he and his disciples head to Shuanghu City to solve a murder mystery.

  • Anti-Frustration Features: When Shen Qingqiu has trouble tracking down the Skinner Demon's location, the System offers him the option to use Easy Mode in exchange for 100 B-points.
  • Badass in Distress
  • But Thou Must!: When Shen Qingqiu is given a quest to investigate a murder case in Shuanghu City, he tries to refuse it but the System tells him that it's not an available option.
  • Call-Back: Unlike his last attempt to give medicine to Luo Binghe in the previous episode, Shen Qingqiu succeeds this time around by claiming that it's only so he won't look beaten up to outsiders, which then wouldn't tarnish Shen Qingqiu's image as a teacher.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Mpashaded; Shen Qingqiu wonders if Luo Binghe's jade pendant will come to use in the future.
  • Genre Savvy: Even though he was never a cultivator in Real Life, Shen Qingqiu is familiar enough with the lore of Proud Immortal Demon Way to figure out how to track down the culprit using Shen Qingqiu's cultivational abilities.
  • Hidden Depths: Although he's a bully, Ming Fan proves to be a competent cultivator. When he's sent to investigate the corpses of the Skinner Demon's victims, he deduces that a demon is responsible from using talismans that react with demonic energy. Even Shen Qingqiu notices his potential and muses that had it not been for his mistreatment of Luo Binghe, he could make a name for himself someday.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Downplayed. Despite his attempts to help, Shen Qingqiu couldn't prevent Luo Binghe from losing his jade pendant. However, he does manage to retrieve and keep said pendant, and his actions are hinted to have helped prevent Luo Binghe from harboring any rage since he's left with the assurance that someone protected him.
  • Loophole Abuse: In another attempt to gain Luo Binghe's favor, Shen Qingqiu has the young boy ride with him on his carriage. When the System is about to invoke an OOC violation, Shen Qingqiu says that it was at Ning Yingying's behest, and in the original canon Shen Qingqiu was particularly fond of Ning Yingying, so it wouldn't be out of character for Shen Qingqiu to do whatever would make his favorite disciple happy.
  • Oh, Crap!: After activating Easy Mode, Shen Qingqiu is finally able to follow the Skinner Demon's tracks, which leads right back to Chen Manor.
  • Plot Hole: Shen Qingqiu wonders why they're riding on horseback even though, as cultivators, they can travel by flying on their swords. Shen Qingqiu even lampshades that it would save them more time.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Shen Qingqiu notices that Shen Qingqiu isn't overly petty and can focus on more pressing matters at hand, when he's able to prevent Ming Fan from roughing up Luo Binghe without receiving an OOC warning by shifting his disciples' focus on Ning Yingying's abduction.
  • Spit Take: Shen Qingqiu chokes on his tea and hacks it out when Lord Chen and his mistress get a little too lovey-dovey with each other.
  • Take a Third Option: When Luo Binghe beats himself up for failing to rescue Ning Yingying and expects to be punished for it, Shen Qingqiu tries to console him but refrains from doing so at the last second because he'll get an OOC alert otherwise. However, he doesn't want to punish Luo Binghe either, so he does neither instead.
  • Take That!: When Shen Qingqiu wonders why they have to use horses rather than their own swords to travel, the System explains that even in a world of witchcraft, brooms wouldn't be used too often as it would be too flashy otherwise. Shen Qingqiu then snarks if the System was involved with the Harry Potter novels; what's more hilarious is that the title is bleeped out due to copyright issues.
  • Tap on the Head: While berating himself for Ning Yingying's capture, Luo Binghe bows several times while hitting his forehead against the floor.
  • When He Smiles: Luo Binghe smiles at Shen Qingqiu in gratitude for giving him medicine, and Shen Qingqiu is so touched that he can't help but smile back, although this costs him a few points.
