- Adaptational Villainy: Taken up to eleven with Toadette. In the games, she is one of the sweetest characters you could ever meet. Here, however, she's a vain, arrogant girl who has a burning hatred for the Koopas.
- An Arm and a Leg: Toadette manages to slice off Carl's arm during their fight. Fortunately, it somehow returns to him after she is shot by Calvin.
- Big Damn Heroes: Just as Toadette is about to kill Carl, Calvin suddenly shoots her in the chest with a Bill Blaster.Calvin: Take that, toad scum!
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Due to being a ghost, Boo is easily able to kill Quentin during their lightsaber duel. However, he is disappointed by how easy it is.Boo: Aw, that was too easy! Being dead sucks!
- Evil Sounds Raspy: Archer, one of Toadette's closest friends, is constantly speaking with a deep, growly voice.
- Fantastic Racism: Toadette and her group have an intense hatred for the Koopas.
- Human Popsicle: Or Squid popsicle in this case as Blooper ends up being cryogenically frozen after he is found out talking to Grace and Roxanne.
- No Sympathy: When Carl is worrying that Blooper doesn't want to hang out with him anymore, Calvin is less than concerned.Carl: Blooper's moved to a different school, and now it feels like he doesn't wanna hang out with me anymore.
Calvin: The squid? Good, I hated him anyway! Kids that age are too old for sci-fi programmes! - Off with His Head!: During the lightsaber duel between Peter and Dry Bones, Peter manages to decapitate Dry Bones. Unfortunately for him, since Dry Bones is a skeleton, it doesn't stick as Dry Bones' head drops back onto his body and allows him to instantly return the favor.
- Oh, Crap!: Quentin has this reaction when his lightsaber harmlessly passes through Boo, thus easily allowing the latter to kill his opponent.
- The Password Is Always "Swordfish": To get into Toad Town Grammar, you need to know the password, which happens to be "Steelix is an Asshole!"
- Pet the Dog: Calvin saves Carl from being killed by Toadette.
- Rousing Speech: Carl gives one of these to Boo and Dry Bones when he decides that they need to rescue him from Toad Town Grammar.
- Say My Name: Blooper shouts out the names of his friends after he is rescued by them.
- Synthetic Voice Actor: The computer that Carl and his friends have to say the password to is voiced by Microsoft Sam.
