Milo retreats to the living room and cranks up the radio to drown out his babysitter, Meghan, who's practicing for Wannabe Idol. There’s a radio trivia contest on, and Milo freaks out when hears the day’s question, an obscure bit of Quantum Vigilante trivia. Before he can call in – there's a kid in trouble! It's Sanjay! Despite (or perhaps because of) his efforts to take care of his cousin’s koi fish, Moby Dave is sick! But are the Captain’s multi-tasking skills good enough to clean a swampy aquarium while repeatedly dialing the radio station on a cordless phone and staying away from tone-deaf Meghan?

Tropes in this episode:

  • Big "NO!": Happens to Milo after Meghan drinks Moby Dave from her glass of lemonade that the koi lands on. Thankfully, she spits it out of her mouth shortly after drinking it.
  • Chekhov's Gun / Radio Contest: Milo turns on the radio to drown out Meghan's terrible singing, which a trivia contest is currently playing. Milo then gets excited as today's question is an obscure Quantum Vigilante trivia question (the question being "What super fabric is Quantum Vigilante's cape super made out of?") which if he answers it correctly, he will win a prize. Although he knows the answer to the question and was about go to the H rock van to claim his prize, Meghan prohibits him from going outside as he's forced to stay inside the house so she can audition for Wannabe Idol, plus Sanjay calls for the Captain to help, causing him to wait to answer the question later. Eventually, he then answers the trivia question correctly (the answer being "super quantum neon nylon"), which led to him winning the contest and his prize, revealing to be Quantum Vigilante underpants, which he uses to make a net to catch Moby Dave from falling from the waterfall.
  • Covered in Mud: While trying to unclog the filter to clean the pond for Moby Dave to swim in, Milo finds a honey garlic wing stuck to the filter. Just after he takes it out, the filter starts spraying mud from the dirty pond, causing him, Lizbeth and Sanjay to get covered in mud.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Although Milo managed to clean up the pond for Moby Dave to swim in, he starts escaping by jumping out of the water to try to be free. So Milo tries to catch the koi by using his baseball glove, but backfired as after he catches it, the koi jumps out of the glove to escape and lands into the sewer. He was then caught by Meghan again after disobeying her rule on not going outside as well as him tricking her that there was a line outside for auditions but turns out to be a line for the bus stop in order to district her, causing him to get dragged out by her.
    • Milo suggests to Meghan for a place with great acoustics in order to practice for her singing audition. Turns out he took her to the same sewer where the koi could be, which her singing sounds worse here. The sewer is where storm drain empties out so Milo waits for the koi to leave the drain pipe so he can land on his fishbowl. However, he missed it and lands into another pipe as he did that on purpose as he wants to have freedom and leave his pond, which the pipe leads to the park fountain.
    • Milo and Sanjay tries to catch the koi throughout Halverston and Area, which they keep missing. Although Milo does catch it briefly after Meghan spits out the koi from the lemonade she was drinking (due to the koi landing on a glass), it spits out lemonade, causing his eyes to burn (which actually doesn't, due to using his visor) and lets go of the fish, landing in a river that leads to a waterfall.
  • Dreadful Musician: Meghan's singing voice is so bad, it led to Milo and Lizbeth covering their ears.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Lizbeth suggests to Milo to pull a lever to close the dam gates and stop the river. However, Milo was thinking of using a helicopter to dangle himself upside down from a rope to save the koi (just like what Quantum Vigilante did in Issue #51, where he does that to save an innocent victim from a lake) but Lizbeth's suggestion on using the lever is much better idea as its no contest. This gave Milo an idea from his "Bird Brain" as the radio contest is more important than using the lever, which was not what Lizbeth was thinking of. He then proceeds to answer the trivia question with his megaphone, which he got it correctly, leading him to win the contest and wins the prize, revealing to be a lifetime supply of Quantum Vigilante underpants. He then makes a net made from the underpants in order to catch the koi from the waterfall, which he actually succeeds and puts it back to his fishbowl.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Meghan wants to audition to be a contestant for Wannabe Idol so she decided to start practicing. However, she is shown to be a terrible singer. Despite this, she eventually got to be in the show as Milo gave the DJ soundproof Quantum earplugs to him, to prevent him from hearing her terrible singing.
  • Inevitable Waterfall: After Moby Dave lands on a river after Milo accidentally lets it go, the river leads to a waterfall, which Milo has to retrieve the koi or else it will fall.

Rebel Without a Clog

Folk dancing lessons?! Milo's mom thinks Milo could use a little cultural broadening, and she knows Mth could use a friendly face at his dance lessons. But Milo decides to help himself and Mth stand up to their moms! They’re doing just fine being rebels until discovered by the biggest snitch of them all – Wendell! Will they avoid clogging lessons or will Mth’s clogging skills actually end up saving the day?

Tropes in this episode:

  • Continuity Nod: Milo takes Mth to the same pancake restaurant previously seen in "Pancake Panic" to show what real rebels look like.
  • Covered in Gunge: After Milo orders two extra large chocolate shakes in dirty glasses for him and Mth to drink, when the server passes one of the shakes, it spills on Mth, causing his face to get covered with milkshake, leading to Milo ordering another shake for him.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Milo uses his voice-throwing system to make a fake "Uh-oh! Flamingo!" call in order for him and Mth to rebel for freedom from doing their clog dancing lessons as they want to stand up to their moms. Although they were just doing fine rebelling throughout the day, Wendell discovers them doing just that at the pancake restaurant which will lead him to tell their moms that they were rebelling from clog dancing lessons, so Milo decides to let Wendell join his rebelling since he felt that rebelling is cool. Once he starts rebelling, Milo realizes that rebelling isn't that much fun anymore as a result of Wendell joining to rebel.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Just when Milo returns to the pancake restaurant, he was caught by a man as he still owes him for a kid that bought a round of shakes for everybody on his tab, which was revealed to be Wendell rebelling. Despite this, he doesn't enough money to pay him so Milo tries to think of a solution by using his "Bird Brain", but he got nothing as none of this would've happened if he and Mth didn't skip their clog dancing lessons, which he has no idea how clog dancing will solve this problem as he didn't even practice how to clog dance. Thankfully, Mth is a good clog dancer so he decided to start doing it, which thrills the customers, leading them to give out the exact amount of money that Milo needs to pay for the drinks. Even if Milo's mom told him that he was doing good lately which lead to him doing whatever he wants all day, Milo decided to take clog dancing lessons with Mth for real this time instead.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: Sort of. Although Milo still uses his "Bird Brain" to solve the problem in order to save the day, it notably doesn't feature any kids in trouble calling for the Captain to help (as the "Uh-oh! Flamingo!" call was a fake done by Milo in order to rebel from clog dancing lessons) as well as him not using that much novelty items in this episode.
  • Height Angst: Milo tricks Wendell by telling him that he should start rebelling with Milo and Mth, as he mentioned that it can actually make you taller which was demonstrated with his height system, revealing that he's grown an entire 8th of an inch since noon, causing Wendell to get upset about losing his height advantage. Despite the height part being a trick, Wendell starts rebelling anyways.
Milo: Rebelling is cool. It not only makes you feel older, but it actually makes you taller. Lizbeth, show him with my measure once, cut twice brand height system.
Lizbeth: Why, it says here you've grown an entire 8th of an inch since noon.
Wendell: But that means I lost my height advantage!
Milo: I guess you'd better start rebelling, Wendell.
  • Percussive Maintenance: Mth turns on the pancake restaurant's jukebox by hitting it with his hand, which then plays music so he can start clog dancing.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a reference to Rebel Without a Cause.
  • Trash Landing: Mth loses control of his bike once he arrived to the pancake restaurant with Milo, causing him to crash land into a garbage can.
