Milo has a piece of spinach in his teeth that he can’t get out! How is he going to impress Ruth?! Uh, oh! A kid in trouble?! Seems Kirsten has been dumped by Ruth when she decides to hang out with Jennifer and her friends. Will Milo be able to help her win back her friend and convince her that hanging out with kids is more fun than pretending to be a big kid? And, almost more importantly, will Ruth notice this gigantic piece of spinach in his teeth and be totally grossed out?

Tropes in this episode:

  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • To make Ruth hang out with Kirsten instead of her girl posse, Milo decided to look at Ruth's photo album to remind her of the kid things that she loves, and she'll come back to her in no time. Milo reminisces the time that he and Ruth went bowling at the same time, despite not actually bowling together. So he decides to bowl over some pins to make Ruth go bowling but she decides not to, as she felt like that it's just kid stuff. After Lizbeth notices that a piece of spinach is stuck on Milo's teeth, he accidentally throws the bowling ball into Jennifer's room, causing a mess to happen.
    • Milo looks at the album again, and finds out that Ruth loves cotton candy, so he decided to use his cotton candy stand to have Ruth come to eat some. She was actually thinking of getting it, but her girl posse refused her to do it as they felt like cotton candy was also just kid stuff, which disappoints her. Since Ruth didn't come for the stand, Milo decides to make the candy come to her by turning the lever up to eleven, causing cotton candy to spill over Jennifer's front door, causing Ruth, Jennifer and her girl posse to get stuck in a ball of cotton candy.
    • Milo then decides to take the ball of cotton candy to the Funasium as he can unspin the ball on an amusement park as the cotton candy is spun sugar, and to show Ruth how fun it is to be a kid at the same time. So Lizbeth and Kirsten puts the ball of cotton candy to a rollercoaster to try unspinning it, but didn't work as they are still stuck.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Milo uses his "Bird Brain" as these older girls are more worried about hair and boys when everyone else is having a blast, which he should've thought of that before. So he takes the ball to the water park to put them in a water slide, so it can wash out the cotton candy. It backfires. Then he puts the ball into a dunk tank which also backfires after hitting it. Finally, he, Lizbeth and Kirsten uses water blasters to shoot out water into the ball, which actually did wash off all of the cotton candy and frees them. Jennifer decides to give up with Ruth after her hair and make-up got completely soaked by the water but she then sees her boy friends mentioning that they didn't know that she's having fun, which made her decide that she and her girl posse decided to not do mature things anymore and continues to have fun instead. Ruth admits that she's getting sick of Jennifer so she decides to hang out with Kirsten instead to have fun.
  • Gilligan Cut: Milo is getting prepared just in case if he's gonna run into Ruth. However, there is a piece of spinach stuck to his teeth. He tries to get it out, but Kirsten calls him to help. Milo hopes that her problem won't have Ruth involved. Cut to Kirsten saying that Ruth is involved with her problem, since she is hanging out with her other friends instead of her.
Milo: Oh, it'll be fine. As long as it's not Ruth Ann.
    (cut to Kirsten)
    Kirsten: Captain, it's Ruth Ann!
    Milo: NO!
Lizbeth: What do you mean, "No"? You love it when it's Ruth Ann.
    Milo: No, I don't.
Kirsten: Captain, I'm the one who needs rescuing. Ruth Ann is just my big fat problem!
    Lizbeth: Welcome to my world.
  • Girl Posse: Ruth hangs out with a girl posse to help Jennifer and her two other friends get ready to go out with boys to do older and mature things instead hanging out with Kirsten doing kid stuff.
  • Rocky Roll Call:
    Jennifer: Ruth Ann!
    Ruth: Kirsten!
    Kirsten: Captain!
    Milo: Birdbrain!
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: After Ruth and her girl posse went to a high rollercoaster to try to get them unspun from the ball of cotton candy they are stuck with (which backfires), this happens to them off-screen shortly after getting off the ride.
Lizbeth: They don't call it the Upchecker for nothing.

Adventures in Milo-Sitting

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bandicam_2024_01_30_20_49_19_305_5.jpg

Something's wrong in the world when Milo's mom leaves Wendell in charge of babysitting Milo. Just as Milo is in the midst of planning a revolt - it's a kid! In trouble! When Wendell refuses to let Milo do any flamingoing and takes away his Power Pack, Wendell finds himself in the middle of a hairy situation – the house is surrounded by giant mutant squirrels!

Tropes in this episode:

  • Absurdly Ineffective Barricade: Although Milo sealed all of the windows and doors to prevent the mutant squirrels from coming inside, the only door he didn't barricade was Dishrag's pet door so he uses a laundry basket to cover up that door. It didn't work well as the mutant squirrels was still able to enter inside the house.
  • Babysitting Episode: Wendell has to babysit Milo due to his mom leaving with Aunt Tildie for Girls' Foot Day as well as shoe shopping. Despite having a lot of kids in trouble that needs the Captain to help them, Wendell refuses Milo to do any flamingoing and takes away his Power Pack, even though the house is surrounded by mutant squirrels later in the episode.
  • Bottle Episode: Due to Wendell being in charge of babysitting Milo, the episode takes place completely in the Powell house (barring the Imagine Spots where Milo reminisces the last couple of times that he defeated the mutant squirrels).
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • To escape Wendell from babysitting him, Milo hears a kid in trouble so he decided to go flamingoing to help them. However, due to Wendell being in charge, he forbids him to help any kid in trouble, causing Lizbeth to bring all of the kids that needed help in line to Milo's house outside, to explain their problems to her.
    • After Milo asks Wendell to get his Power Pack back to stop the mutant squirrels, Wendell refuses as he could stop the squirrels with Milo's novelty items himself so he decided to use Milo's extendo-grabber, but since he doesn't know how to use it properly unlike Milo, it gives him a wedgie.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: After having many bad babysitters multiple times in the past, Milo decides from his "Bird Brain" that he should never babysit again so he decided to help save Wendell from being attacked by the mutant squirrels. After Milo tells Wendell to call out "Uh oh! Flamingo!" to let him start flamingoing again since he does need help now, he then gets his Power Pack back to trick the squirrels by feeding them peanuts. However, it turns out that he feed them peanut-flavored gum instead of actual peanuts which gets their mouths stuck and sprays them with lubricant, causing them to flee out of the house. Milo then forces Wendell to mop the toilet as his punishment, as he is now in charge of telling him what he will say or do.
  • Foreshadowing: After a couple of kids stand in line outside of Milo's house to tell about their problems (due to Wendell forbidding Milo to help kids in trouble), Tabitha brings chewed-up pencils as a result of somebody biting them after leaving it in a park bench, Otto brings an onion-roasted bag after somebody switched his peanut bag to onion-roasted, and Rutger mentioning that someone was following him with a skittering sound. After Milo disobeys Wendell from trying to help kids in trouble, he forbids flamingoing at any cost, even if the house could be invaded by hordes of menacing, hairy mutants. Noticed a pattern here? Chewing up stuff? Swiping peanuts? Making skittering sounds? Why it's the mutant squirrels, of course, as they were responsible for all these factors, and they indeed later surrounds the house later to seek for revenge!
  • Oh, Crap!: Since Wendell doesn't want any help from Milo to stop the mutant squirrels from coming inside as he could try doing it himself, Milo decides to open a window to let more squirrels in, startling him.
  • Wedgie: Wendell tries using Milo's extendo-grabber to stop the mutant squirrels himself, only for it to malfunction and gives him a wedgie as he doesn't know how to use it properly unlike Milo.
