Go To

Ben and Rook encounter a race of elastic, hot-blooded aliens in Undertown who want to use a stolen nuclear fusion engine to activate a volcano!

Tropes in this episode

  • Briar Patching: NRG begs the Kraaho not to open his armor, claiming he'll die if it happens. They open him up, and then have to contend with NRG's more powerful true form.
  • The Bus Came Back: Ben finally uses Arctiguana in the present day.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Ben tries playing hockey against some Kinecelerans as himself. It goes poorly until he breaks out XLR8.
  • Easily Forgiven: Ben shrugs off Esther's theft, reasoning that she won't cause more trouble. Rook remains skeptical.
  • Eat the Bomb: How NRG gets rid of the fusion engine.
  • Fantastic Slur: Due to Kraahos being creatures who require vast amounts of heat to be comfortable, Seebik refers to any non-Kraaho lifeforms as "cold cuts".
  • Heat Wave: Bellwood is hit by one before the episode begins, with 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade, leaving its inhabitants sweltering. Ester, on the other hand, finds the weather nippy thanks to her Kraaho blood.
  • Home Field Advantage: Fighting the Kraaho in the magma chambers does a number on Ben and Rook, who begin slowing down from the extreme heat.
  • Hostile Terraforming: The Kraaho's goal, which is to raise the temperature of Earth to the point where they can live comfortably, damn any creature who can't survive close proximity to lava.
  • Mundane Utility: Ben uses Water Hazard to cool off the Kineceleran siblings when they take a break from their game.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Ester steals a fusion engine and mocks Ben while getting away with it, but turns friendly once the Kraaho have what they need. She also helps Ben and Rook fight the usurpers who try to turn Earth into a Lethal Lava Land.
  • She Is Not My Girl Friend: Ben's reaction to the Kineceleran kids calling him Ester's boyfriend.
  • Wrong Assumption: Ester assures Ben and Rook that the fusion engine's theft is the last problem the Kraaho will cause. Then the rest of her race tries to burn Earth's surface alive, much to her horror.
