Go To

Ryan has to stop Poison Ivy before she destroys Gotham Dam and floods the city.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Ivy reveals that she used to have an asthmatic younger brother. Comic!Ivy has never had any siblings in her long history.
  • Asshole Victim: In the intro scene, Mary is seen brutalizing and possibly killing Harold Marlowe, CEO of Gotham United Healthcare, who denied tons of people coverage.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Even after being hit with the pheromone blocker, Pamela gives Ryan a hell of a fight.
  • De-power: Poison Ivy drains Mary completely when trying to destroy the dam, returning her to normal.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Even though Mary at first tries to deny it, the relationship she has with Pamela is very similar to toxic, all-take-no-give relationships.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Alice when driving the Batmobile.
  • Easily Forgiven: Still averted in regards to Alice, as Ryan tells her that she is on her own after Mary is saved.
  • Enemy Mine: The Bat-Family once more teams up with Alice to find Mary.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even while still under her influence, Mary is not okay with the planned mass murder by Pamela.
  • The Exile: Montoya negotiates a deal with Sophie to drop herself and Poison Ivy on Coryana.
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: Poison Ivy drains Mary and leaves her near the dam, causing some workers to call an ambulance for her when she's discovered unconscious. Word of her being picked up gets to Ryan, who is on her way to retrieve Marquis. This leaves Ryan with a difficult decision: grab Mary and miss Jada's deadline, earning Jada's wrath, or keep to her schedule and risk Mary walking off again. Ryan decides to go for Mary this time.
  • Heroic Second Wind: Luke gives himself enough inner strength to break free from one of Pamela's vines that tries to crush him.
  • He's Back!: Unfortunately, the water caused by the partial destruction of the dam revives Marquis.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Pamela stabs an unfortunate guard at the Gotham Dam In the Back with her vines.
  • Internal Reveal: Mary is told about the hunter she killed in the previous episode.
  • It Is Beyond Saving: During her fight with Batwoman, Poison Ivy insists this is the case with Gotham, calling it a "cesspool of crime, filth and pollution" which should be destroyed and rebuilt from the ground up. Unsurprisingly, Batwoman very firmly disagrees.
Batwoman: The city is worth saving. At least, it is to me.
  • Living Battery: Mary is this for Poison Ivy; a sporeling, as Montoya describes her.
  • Mama Bear: In exchange for the buzzer, Jada demands that Batwoman bring Marquis back to her by midnight. After the deadline is not met, due to the situation with Mary getting in the way, she goes on TV and reveals that Batwoman let all the Bat-villain trophies loose on the city, rallying the city against Batwoman.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Twice by Mary in regards to the hunter she killed, first after being told, later after being de-powered.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Alice points this out in regards to Ryan and herself, saying that they both keep screwing up with people they try to get close to.
  • Psychic Nosebleed: Pamela suffers from it again, until she drains Mary.
  • Pun: When Mary is aghast at Ivy's plan and disagrees with it, Ivy says that if she wanted Renee there with them, she would have invited her. Mary retorts using a pun.
Mary: I'm not trying to be a Renee-sayer.* Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Batwoman and Batwing manage to stop Poison Ivy from destroying the dam altogether, but she has already caused severe damage to it, resulting in major leaks and minor flooding throughout the city.
  • Title Drop: By Mary.
  • Trojan Horse: Mary takes Montoya's pheromone blocker before allowing herself to be drained by Poison Ivy, weakening Ivy enough for the Bat-Team to have a chance of stopping her.
  • Villain Has a Point: Unsurprisingly, Pamela brings up a lot of valid points in her crusade.
  • Vine Tentacles: Combined with Dual Wielding, as Pamela uses two of her vines as whips when fighting Ryan.
