D&D is for Nerds is a podcast by Sanspants Radio about how there is nothing sadder than a group of adults sitting around a table playing Dungeons and Dragons. There are 2 seasons that are labeled as such. After the second season, the campaigns are simply given individual titles.
The first two seasons feature a regular cast of three players and their increasingly frustrated Dungeon Master (DM):
- Alli Kathleen as Princess Ansley Foggyfeather, Human Ranger
- Joel Zammit as Leo Shadow, halfling Rogue
- Jackson Baly as Krifpum Pumkrif, Half-Elf Wizard
- And as the DM, Adam Cantrememberhisname
This podcast provides examples of:
- Cats Are Mean: Jiggalump towards Krif, so much so that he reappears in a later game to attack Jackson's character.
- Familiar: Jiggalump, though more of an Unfriendly Familiar.
- Fighter, Mage, Thief:
- Fighter: Ansley Foggyfeather
- Mage: Krifpum Pumkrif
- Thief: Leo Shadow
- Harmless Freezing: Supremely averted in Northern Bounty. The three PCs suffer from cold so badly that one of them needs amputations to protect from gangrene.
- Inept Mage: Krif failed to become a court wizard because he was taught mostly useless spells as a joke. Meaning: Adam gave Jackson mostly useless spells. As a joke.
- Killer Game Master: Adam does not pull his punches in throwing the worst of his world at the players. Characters suffer, and die, in brutal fashions.
- Opening Narration: During the first two seasons, the cast rotated introductions, each one beginning with "There's nothing sadder than a group of adults [FILL IN THE BLANK]" and then introducing each member of the cast, ending with a joke on Adam's name.
- Princess in Rags: Ansley's clothes are not as nice as they once were... Especially when Adam misheard and thought she wanted to wear a potato sack over the dress.
- Rebellious Princess: Ansley tries to be, but doesn't really know how...
- Spell Book: As noted in Inept Mage, Krif's contains suboptimal spell selection.
- Subverted Trope: Adam thought he had to worry about Jackson or Joel as the guys but it was Alli's character Ansley that spends time trying to pinch people's bums.
- War Is Hell: One of the major themes of Hus Firma Pride.
- You Can Keep Her!: After Krif and Leo kidnap Ansley, her parents send a messenger to them to say, and I quote, "You can kill her."
