Basic Trope: The younger sibling is larger than the older sibling.
  • Straight: Lance is half a head taller and much buffer than his brother Bob, despite Lance being younger by three years.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Lance is a 6'4" musclebound linebacker, Bob is 5'2" and an Incredible Shrinking Man.
    • Lance is a 60 year old man while Bob is a 11-year old kid.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob and Lance are fraternal twins; Lance is younger by a couple minutes but just a bit taller than Bob.
    • Lance is taller than Bob, but is taller by an inch or two.
  • Justified:
    • Lance got his mother's tall genes, while Bob got his father's short genes.
    • Lance worked hard to improve his body while Bob lived a sedentary lifestyle. Genetics just did the rest.
    • Lance and Bob were raised separately; Bob was malnourished as a kid and so never really grew to his full height.
    • Lance and Bob are not blood siblings, or are half-siblings.
    • Bob is trapped in Narnia Time for a decent while.
    • Lance is ten or more years younger than Bob. Hence, while Bob is experiencing his bones breaking down from osteoporosis, Lance's building up.
    • Bob has dwarfism.
    • Lance has gigantism.
    • Bobby is actually a girl, and Lance is just taller than her.
    • Lance and Bob are different species.
    • A brother and a sister of a species with Bizarre Sexual Dimorphism, where members of one specific gender are notably larger than the other.
  • Inverted: Bob is taller and larger than his younger brother Lance.
  • Subverted: Bob has a late growth spurt and ends the series taller than Lance.
    • This trope is seemingly played straight, Bob is a Pintsized Powerhouse who still managed to fit the traditional big brother protector role despite Lance being taller.
  • Double Subverted: By the sequel, Lance has also had a late growth spurt, and is once again taller than Bob.
  • Parodied: Not only is Bob significantly smaller than Lance, but looks young enough to be frequently mistaken for his younger brother's kid.
  • Zig Zagged: Lance is indeed several inches or more taller than Bob, but he's clearly the big brother protector. When someone picks on Lance, they at first worry when he says he's going to get his big brother, then they laugh, then they beg for mercy after Bob pummels them. However in their later years, Bob has a few tragic mishaps and needs to be cared for by Lance in their older years, although Bob still retains his tough guy personality (sometimes).
  • Averted:
    • Bob and Lance are the same height.
    • Bob is taller than Lance.
  • Enforced: The actor hired to play Lance is taller than the actor hired to play Bob; Ability over Appearance wins out.
  • Lampshaded: "Hey, Lance, aren't you the younger brother?"
  • Invoked: Lance improves his body with the goal of surpassing his brother's.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Seeing the fast rate at which Lance is growing, Bob takes growth supplements and starts working out so he doesn't get left behind.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "Hey, is Lance the younger brother on the show? Why isn't he shorter and smaller than the guy who's playing his older brother?"
  • Implied:
    • Bob introduces Claire, who is his height, to his brother Lance. Lance is only seen offscreen, but Claire's gaze goes from Bob's eye level (her height) upwards, implying Lance is taller.
    • Bob is described as a slim nerd while Lance is described as a tall musclebound linebacker, but no heights are explicitly stated.
  • Played For Laughs: Mentioning the height difference will set Bob off.
  • Played For Drama: Bob becomes insecure that his younger brother is more physically impressive than he is.

Hey, isn't Big Little Brother the younger one?
