Basic Trope: A character who is immune to groin attacks.
- Straight: Bob is hit in the groin. It doesn’t even hurt him.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob’s balls are the strongest part of his body. Anyone going for a nutshot generally ends up with broken feet.
- Bob is hit in the groin with a sledgehammer. The sledgehammer shatters to pieces on impact.
- Bob is shot in the groin. The bullets bounce harmless off his junk.
- Bob is hit with a nuke. His groin is the only part of him that isn't vaporized.
- Downplayed: Bob does have some pain, but he rejoins the fight quickly.
- Justified:
- Bob is invulnerable all over. Why wouldn't they be protected?
- Bob doesn’t have balls to hit anymore, for one reason or another.
- Bob’s wearing a cup.
- Bob is actually Barb, and whatever she's using to make sure her uniform bulges where it's expected to cushions the blow.
- Bizarre Alien Biology.
- Bob's been through stuff that'd make a kick in the balls look pleasant.
- Bob's been hit in the crotch so many times that it eventually stopped hurting.
- Bob turns out to actually be 808.note
- Inverted: Bob’s testicles are his only weak spot.
- Subverted:
- Bob puts on a brave face when he's first hit, but as soon as Alice looks away, he's doubled over in agony.
- Bob is a woman in disguise.
- Double Subverted:
- It was bait. Alice fell for it and gets groin attacked herself.
- Bob doesn't have balls in the groin... but she does have nerve endings.
- Parodied:
- The groin kick bounces off with a “ping” sound.
- A magnet pulls Bob in by his junk.
- Bob kicks Dave in the junk to no effect. Then Dave kicks Bob in the junk to no effect. Then Dave tries again. Then Bob tries again…
- Zig Zagged: Bob puts on a brave face when he’s first hit, but as soon as Alice looks way, he’s doubled over in agony. This is bait however, and Alice’s attack didn’t quite reach him anyway. A genuine hit to the nuts causes no reaction at first, but then bob starts stumbling and limping around. It turns out the last hit broke his pelvis, but he’s limping because the bones are dislocated and not because of the pain, which he cannot feel.
- Averted: The Groin Attack works as intended with no fan-fare.
- Enforced: The actor playing Bob spent a long time practicing this technique himself, and insists it shows on film.
- Lampshaded:
- “You’ve got a pair of big, brassy ones on ya… I can tell, ‘cus I broke my foot on them.”
- Alice looks at Bob quizzically.
Alice: “Doesn't that hurt?”
Bob: “No. Why do you ask?” - Invoked:
- Bob joined up with shaolin monks to perfect a technique to protect his genitals.
- Bob wears a target over his crotch.
- Exploited: Alice aims a groin kick at Bob, knowing he’ll stand there and take it…leaving him wide open to return fire via handgun.
- Defied:
- Alice looks at Bob’s crouch, and aims a kick there... Before whipping her leg around and knocking Bob out with a Question Mark Kick to his temple.
- “I can kick hard enough to break your pelvis open. That cup isn’t going to help.”
- Discussed: “Is he a shaolin monk? It’ll be very annoying if he avoided by 1# favourite technique.”
- Conversed: “Bob looks unfazed, but I pity the poor actor playing him.”
- Deconstructed: The technique that lets Bob avoid these attacks also makes him infertile.
- Reconstructed: Bob felt his genitals only ever slowed him down anyway...
- Played For Laughs:
- Bob has to act like he isn’t a badass martial artist. When he accidently hits his junk on the table, he has to act like he’s in pain and he does so…poorly.
- Alice’s gobsmacked expression after this happens is a thing of beauty.
- Dave laughs off Bob’s groin attack.
Dave: “Jokes on you! I had those removed years ago!”Bob: “You had your balls removed… and you say the jokes on me?” - Played For Drama: It’s a sign of how inhuman The Corruption is making Bob become, along with Feel No Pain.
Be polite and don’t hit the main page in the nards. Then again, it’s not really going to be an issue…
