Honey Popcorn is a Korean Pop Music Girl Group managed by Kyun Create that debuted in 2018. The trio's musical debut is self-funded and consists of former Japanese Idol Singers:

  • Yua Mikami (real name: Momona Kito)
  • Miko Matsuda (real name: Risako Okada)
  • Moko Sakura (real name: Yu Ito)

Despite their background as idols, their debut was met with heavy controversy when the Internet discovered all of them are adult video stars after quitting the idol music industry. They were met with ridicule from both Korean and Japanese fans for debuting in a country where pornography is illegal, and petitions calling for banning them were made, forcing their debut showcase to be delayed. Despite this, they still released their debut single, "Bibidi Babidi Boo", amid protest.

Tropes related to Honey Popcorn and their music:

  • Idol Singer: All of the girls were originally Japanese Pop Music idols prior to Honey Popcorn (and their adult work). Yua Mikami was in SKE48, Miko Matsuda was in NMB48, and Moko Sakura was in Bakusute Sotokanda Icchome (a sub-unit of Akihabara Backstage Pass, which was produced by Tsunku). When Yua was 13, she also auditioned for Morning Musume and made her first appearance on their variety show.
  • Shout-Out: "Bibidi Babidi Boo" is a reference to Cinderella, down to the Magical Incantation found in the film.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Yua is featured prominently in "Bibidi Babidi Boo" as the dance's center, and the camera focuses on her even when another member is singing her part. It's somewhat justified since she was the one who mainly funded their debut.
  • Stage Names: Yua, Miko, and Moko's real names are Momona Kito, Risako Okada, and Yu Ito. They're also their Porn Names as well.
