Sex, Life, and Communication

Maka-Maka is the story of two friends, the voluptuous yet insecure Nene and the outgoing party girl Jun. These two women have a strong and loving bond that often shows itself best in the fact that the two have no boundaries with each other. Their unusual way of communicating their bond sees these two through both good times and bad as they live their lives the best they can.

A Yuri Hentai manga series written and illustrated by Torajirō Kishi (Colorful / Otome no Teikoku), The series ran from 2003-2005 with 24 chapters in total. The manga was serialized in Bunkasha's adult magazine Pent-Japan Special, and released in two bound volumes by Jive. The manga has been licensed for distribution in North America by Media Blasters.

Tropes:

  • Bastard Boyfriend: As one reviewer put it, there isn't a single guy in the series who isn't a "raging asshole", this often shows that the only good loving relationship the two girls have is with each other.
  • The Eeyore: Nene is a very emotionally vulnerable person who can get stuck in negative thoughts, its usually Jun who has to bring her out of the dumps and show her how to love and appreciate herself.
  • Friends with Benefits: Nene and Jun would not consider themselves to be girlfriends, they are just two friends who enjoy having sex with each other as an expression of their friendship.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Jun has a habit of drinking to excess when partying or at social gatherings, luckily she will often seek out Nene when she gets to bad as she is the only one Jun feels safe to be around when she gets that way.
  • If It's You, It's Okay: Nene and Jun are for the most part heterosexual, both have a number of faceless male companions, but the only women they show any interest in is each other.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: When together the two have a real hard time keeping their hands off each other.
  • Porn with Plot: Each chapter consists of the two playing around or even having sex but also helping each other out with their emotional problems and talking about their worries.
  • Really Get Around: Jun regularly dates multiple men at the same time without their knowledge, up to four at once. This is on top of having a Friends with Benefits relationship with her best friend.
  • Weight Woe: Nene often struggles with her body image, despite how gorgeous everyone finds her.
