After a Japanese salaryman gets killed by a random gunshot, a goddess gives him a second chance at life by placing him in a medieval fantasy world, reincarnated into the body of a fifteen year old and gifted with an affinity for healing magic and extraordinary luck. Renaming himself Luciel and determined to die of old age this time, the salaryman heads off to the nearest city to start a career as a physician. But, shortly after joining the Healers Guild, Luciel learns of the severe corruption that is prevalent among the other healers. Resolving never to become an unscrupulous healer, Luciel begins training at the Adventurers' Guild and offers to heal injured adventurers for free, earning him the animosity of some other healers in the guild…

Tropes that show up here

  • Adam Smith Hates Your Guts: If Botacouli is any indication, most healers will charge based on how powerful the spell they used rather than the severity of the injuries, and they generally prefer to use the most powerful healing spell at their disposal.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Luciel is dubbed the unfortunate name of "Masochist Zombie Healer" because of his willingness to go through Training from Hell and drink substance X. In an attempt to rectify this he ends with an equally bad one as "Saint Weirdo".
  • Fantastic Racism: There's some against demihumans.
  • Greed: Many healers are corrupt and charge outrageous sums, even selling people in slavery if they can't pay. That's what has given them such a deserved horrible reputation. At the start of the series, the Shurule Holy Church has been too lax and has allowed things to fall too much until Luciel rises enough in the Church and manages to reform the system from the inside.
  • Healing Potion: Luciel uses them in the labyrinth.
  • Reincarnate in Another World: Luciel died on Earth and is reincarnated in a fantasy world.
  • Rescue Romance: Luciel has gained the affection of multiple women after healing their injuries.
  • Samaritan Syndrome: Luciel gets this when he has to heal large groups of people and some of them don't pull through.
  • Screwball Serum: Substance X is liquid with a distinct look, taste, and textures, along with a smell that emanates from a person if they consume a mug. It actually stops a person from leveling up but gains more stats through training and battle. It also will cause a person to ether lose the desire to eat, sleep or sex. Luciel realizes it took away his desire for sex.
  • Squick: Everyone has this reaction in-universe to Substance X - a purple, swirling liquid that Luciel drinks that's supposed to make him more receptive to training, but also hyperactive.
  • Training from Hell: In order to improve his physical stats, and in doing so, improve his stamina and magical capacity, Luciel voluntarily goes through this.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Botacouli was an idealistic healer once.
  • White Mage: Healer is a profession many can take up. They can hired to be a part of a party, or provide ad hoc services at the guild. Most healers charge a lot of money for their services, so a lot of adventurers decide to just decide to not ask for their services. Luciel is unique in the sense that he doesn't charge for his services.
  • Withholding the Cure: What the corrupt healers do for those who can't pay.
