The Second Age of Heroes is a Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Zack Snyder's Justice League crossover story where a grown Percy and Annabeth somehow ended up in the DCEU. Trying to live their lives quietly, Diana is forced to bring them out of retirement when Steppenwolf comes to Earth in the hopes of claiming it for Darkseid.

This fic provides examples of:

  • Accidental Pervert: Percy and Annabeth go into autopilot and change into their combat gear in front of Bruce, Diana, Mera, and Barry, giving them an unexpected eyeful.
  • Adaptational Badass: While the Steppenwolf of the Snyder Cut was already an improvement in this regard to the first one, in this story he demonstrates how much experience he has in battle, like for example deciding to attack Gotham to put the heroes in disarray as well as trying to force the Mother Box that they have out, and last but not least target specific places to force them to separate and hindrance their teamwork.
  • Adapted Out: Arthur Curry/Aquaman seems to strangely be entirely absent from the story so far, with Percy taking up his role of stopping Steppenwolf from killing Mera and stealing the Atlantean box. He still existed at some point, but Vulko could apparently find no sign of him at all.
  • Battle Couple: Percy and Annabeth are married and kick serious ass together.
  • Bullying a Dragon: After learning that Percy is a demigod son of Poseidon Mera asks Wonder Woman if she thinks that Percy is trustworthy since the goddess knew about him before anyone and knows more of his life before the demigods arrived to this world, Diana then proceeds to tell her just the tip of the iceberg of his feats and makes Mera fear of how Atlantis and Xebel have been provoking him while being glad that he decided to not retaliate against them.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: While fighting against the newly revived Superman and seeing that they're losing Annabeth shouts "Misery" so Percy stops holding himself back and starts to control the blood in the krytonian's body, this however makes the son of Poseidon lose himself as well with his wife being the only one who can make him snap out of it.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Mera starts the story looking down on humans due to the pollution that their civilization infringe upon the sea, but as she spends more time in the "Surface World" fighting alongdide, as well as befriending, the heroes and discovering the wonders in it that attitude slowly but surely fades away.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Percy can talk to sea life — a power of the Atlantis royal bloodline — and manipulate water — a power of the Xebel royal bloodline — leading both kingdoms to assume he's the product of an affair between two royals and a potential threat to their thrones.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Diana completely intended to leave Percy and Annabeth alone to their well-deserved retirement. Unfortunately, Steppenwolf's invasion is a serious enough situation that she's forced to have Bruce bring them into things.
  • More Deadly Than the Male: Despite his powers making him the more obvious threat, Percy, under the influence of the Lasso of Truth, has previously told Diana that he fully considers his wife the more powerful of the pair. In her self-reflection, Diana acknowledges that even if had killed them both then and there, Annabeth would have contingencies that would come into effect even after her death.
  • Off with His Head!: After Steppenwolf is killed, Diana cuts off his head when Flash points out that they should make sure that he's dead.
  • One-Man Army: Percy already proved to be part of this trope in the books, and it's shown in this story too when him and the rest of the heroes protect Gotham from the attack of Steppenwolf and his army with the son of Poseidon destroying a good chunk of the army who tried to ambush him and Mera in the harbor and the place ending up destroyed alongside Darkseid's minions.
  • Retired Badass: Both Percy and Annabeth wanted nothing more than to live their lives peacefully, maybe even start a family of their own. But then Steppenwolf came along and ruined that...
  • Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: Annabeth and Percy are very nervous and twitchy around Diana since she's a goddess and they're not used to deities that don't indulge in dog-kicking and ego-stroking. They slowly unwind and start to trust her after learning she wasn't raised as a goddess but as any other Amazonian.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: The Flash is a little too quick to try and say that the name "Justice League" is terrible and ask which one of the others came up with it.
  • Took the Wife's Name: In a variant, both Annabeth and Percy tried to be sneaky and have their last names be hyphenated when they got married, so their respective last names are Jackson-Chase and Chase-Jackson.
  • Worf Had the Flu: When Percy battles Steppenwolf underwater, he finds himself at a serious disadvantage despite supposedly fighting in his element. As the fight continues, he realizes he is actually inexperienced here, while Steppenwolf is well used to fighting in this terrain, and decides he and Mera need to retreat. Round two, with Percy on dry land with a large source of water at his back, like he is used to, goes a lot different.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Whatever caused Percy and Annabeth to end up in the DC universe, they're apparently unable and/or unwilling to head home.
