'Ori, But a bit to the left' is a series of Adaptation Expansion fanfics of Ori and the Blind Forest about the story of the Ori games but with small differences and what those differences cause, starting with the survival of Kuro's children.

The stories primarily take place after the events of the second game, with a few stories taking place during the first game and between the first and second games.

This fanfic provides examples of

  • Adaptation Expansion: Just about everybody except Ori and Naru gets this, notable examples include the Spirit Tree, Kuro, Kuro's children, and Shriek.
    • Places aren't exempt from this either, with multiple places outside of the games being shown.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Ku has this due to not being a orphan in this timeline, instead considering Ori her cousin and Naru her honorary aunt.
  • A God I Am Not: Kuro doesn't look favorably upon her life as the goddess Nevermore and moved to Nibel to get away from it.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Ori has the abilities of all of the spirits he absorbed, well over a dozen. Its considered rare to have more than one due how painful and draining it is.
  • Badass Adorable: Ori, a small deer-rabbit looking spirit with the power to tussle with literal gods. Shown best in Foreign Affairs where he easily overpowers every other spirit he fights despite being smaller than all of them.
  • Bag of Spilling: Averted with Ori not being shown to lose any of his powers, not even after being extracted from the Niwen spirit tree.
  • Canon Foreigner: Kuro's mate Phoenix is new, as are his compatriots: Sheer, Spark, and Blight.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Kuro is a giant dark element owl and one of Ori's closest allies as well as his Honorary Aunt, the same goes for her children.
  • Disability Superpower: The only reason Ori's able to survive absorbing the light of so many spirits is due to his own light being severely underdeveloped.
  • Easy Amnesia: Ori gets this after being removed from the spirit tree, he recovers most of them by the end of the story.
  • Everyone Can See It: For the first half of the series the only one who couldn't tell that Ori and Sein were head over heels for each other was Ori,
  • Happily Adopted: Ori has this with Naru as with canon, Shriek becomes this as well later on.
  • Honorary Aunt: Kuro becomes this to Ori after he saves her children, Naru becomes this to a lesser extent as well.
  • Light Is Good: The closest thing to evil light spirits are a few that are poor sports.
  • Manchild: Ori is this, downplayed and eventually averted in One Step After Another as he works on becoming more independent and self-sufficient.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Kuro's children are the most blatant example, but other examples include: Kuro, Shriek, and Ori himself.
  • Older Than He Looks: Ori tends to be this due to his underdeveloped light as well as his Manchild tendencies, other spirits mistake him for a teenager when he's thirty.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Seir is this, due to turning Ori into a spirit tree and trying to drive Ori and Sein apart due to jealousy.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Seir learned to transform into some Moki-Spirit hybrid in an attempt to make Ori fall for them, Sein later starts to learn how to do the same thing.
