Kiri may have won the battle, but not the war. The island of Uzushio might not be as dead as previously believed. All Kakashi knows now is that he really should have refused that mission to Wave.

Gem of the Eddy Provides Examples of:
- Death Glare: Kakashi delivers a lot or these to Tazuna, each one getting progressively worse much to his discomfort. First, he tricks his team into accepting a dangerous A-rank mission, then he subsequently spills the beans explaining the Wave's history with the Uzumaki to the genin which in turn unlocks loads of questions about Naruto. If that wasn't enough, later Zabuza enters the fray. After all of that, it's honestly amazing that he's still standing in one piece.
- Deserted Island: After getting swept up in that whirlpool by Gato's making, Haku and Zabuza have wound up stranded on Uzushio. They're both stuck there because of the whirlpools surrounding the island being too strong for an boats to pass or even Haku's ice kekkei genkai to freeze.
- Dramatic Irony: Naruto doesn't realize the exact identity of the person who decided to keep his heritage top secret because Kushina and Minato only referenced him by name Hiruzen. Naruto only knows him as Jiji.Minato: Did Hiruzen decide it needed to be kept top secret?Kushina: Ugh, he so would do that! I wanna punch him in the head now too, you know!Naruto [Confused Narration]: Who is Hiruzen? Maybe Jiji knows.
- The Dreaded: The Uzumaki Clan, no question about it. They were all well-known masters of the fuuinjutsu. To this day, everyone is still wary of anyone who carries their blood. To the point, where even Zabuza upright quit his job with Gato just because he refused to fight Naruto when he heard he was a Uzumaki.Zabuza: Anyway. I quit.Gato: You... you quit?Zabuza: I’m not going up against even a baby Uzumaki for any amount of money.
- Forced Transformation: After Gato activated the Uzumaki scroll, Team 7 landed in Uzushio after getting sucked into a giant whirlpool. The Uzushio foxes answered their plea and "saved" them by turning them into foxes like them. Now they're more or less forced to bring surving members of the Uzumaki clan to Uzushio island if they ever want to turn back human again.
- For Want Of A Nail: Where do we start?
- Due to Gato idiotically deciding to using a Uzumaki scroll—a incredibly dangerous artifact by itself—he changed Canon significantly with Team 7's subsequent "disappearance" alone.
- Naruto found out much earlier who his parents really are. Kushina by Kakashi who finally relented from guilt about knowing who his mother was after he learned the Uzumaki name was such a big deal (although he didn't tell him about his dad). Next, he learned about Minato soon after by actually meeting his parents much earlier after the scroll activated.
- In Spite of a Nail: Kakashi temporally dies much earlier and just like before, he still met his father briefly and had a deep heart to heart with him.
- Minor Living Alone: Both Naruto and Sasuke are orphaned minor's who live alone but in Naruto's case, almost all of the adults in the village discriminates against him. Due to that the landlord takes advantage of his naivety and the others willingness to turn a blind eye to his troubles by increasing his rent or adding extra fees all the time. Thing is while he finds it annoying, he didn't actually realize that was illegal until Sasuke corrected him when Naruto mentioned that. He's smart enough to do his own research into it so nobody- if they wanted to or not- would rip him off of his families estate.
- Pet the Dog: Zabuza is a Ax-Crazy, bloodthirsty, Professional Killer- true. But you could see how much he clearly cares for Haku through his interactions with her in the story, especially in his own POV.
- The Reveal: There's a lot of secrets that were revealed in the first few chapters alone. Naruto learned out who his parents were and Kakashi's connection to them, he also admitted his jinchuriki status to Sasuke and Sakura thanks to Naruto's Loose Lips and Sasuke figuring out something wasn't quite right.
- Spared By Adaptation: Haku and Zabuza both were spared early on due to Gato activating the Uzumaki scroll. They were both caught up in the whirlpool and ended up stranded on Uzushio.
