Fanfic / Goldfur's Stories About Ponies

Go To

Goldfur's Stories About Ponies is a fan fiction universe created by Bernard Doove. It can be found on FIMFiction and (NSFW) the Chakat's Den.

The stories started as a fanfic to My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, but one story ends up crossing over with Chakona Space. Other stories take place in an Alternate Universe.

Works present in the "Whirring Cogs / House Path" universe:

  • Change of Life (CD link), is a story about Whirring Cogs, a changeling in the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic universe, who just wants to be an ordinary pegasus. It's a pity Queen Chrysalis had other ideas. (Finished)
  • Growing Up Dandy (CD Link) is the sequel to Change of Life focusing on Cogs’ daughter, Dandelion. (Finished)
  • The Best Present (CD Link) is a one-shot Hearth’s Warming Eve story that happens early during the early part of "Growing Up Dandy". (Finished)
  • Conversations In A Canterlot Café (CD Link) takes place concurrently with the latter part of "Change Of Life" / early part of "Growing Up Dandy". Changelings have started to become a common sight in Canterlot, much to the dismay of Frothy Brew. (Finished)
  • A Different Perspective (CD Link) is needed when an Earth Pony named Long Path realizes that many ponies are bigoted against other species. Setting out with his best friend, a griffon named Free Agent, and their sponsor, Twilight Sparkle, they seek to learn about other species and cultures. Adventure, laughter, and love ensue. (Finished)
  • The Growing Years (CD Link) is a series of vignettes that take place after "A Different Perspective". (Finished)
  • Quantum Gallop (CD Link) follows the children of House Path as they struggle to correct changes to history. This is the sequel to "The Growing Years". (Finished)
  • Life, Love, and Death in the House of Path (CD Link) are further tales of members of the Path family. This is the sequel to "Quantum Gallop". (Ongoing...)
  • Cosmic Lotus (CD Link) follows House Path and all the races of Equis as they venture into the depths of space. (Crossover with Chakona Space) (Finished)
  • Foreign Affairs (CD Link) tells the story of how a graduate of Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns moves to Chakona to follow her cutie mark and explore a new island's geology. She quickly makes a new friend. (Finished)

Works present in Goldfur's other MLP universes:

Goldfur's Stories About Ponies provides examples of:

  • God in Human Form: Tigerbright is aware of Rakshani deities and encounters one on the Star Phoenix. It looks much like the deities encountered on the Folly. When Violet sees him, she sees an equine deity. Twilight actually has an explanation.
Twilight: "You’re both equally right and wrong. Sojourner is an ascended being, at least a couple of levels higher than an alicorn. Rakshan deities have transcended the need for a physical body. How anyone perceives him or any of his kind depends on species and cultural expectations. Tigerbright saw him as a felinoid while we saw him as an equinoid. If we were to ask the crew of the Star Phoenix what he looked like, I would wager that we would get different answers yet again."
    • Unsurprisingly, one of the commenters made a comment about Vorlons.
  • Loophole Abuse: In chapter 21 (About Face) of Cosmic Lotus, we learn that Admiral Kline has engaged in some creative reinterpretation of instructions from his boss.
  • Noodle Incident: Violet's mother, Fireball created some flaming waffles that inspire fear on the part of alicorn prince Destined Path. Years later.
  • Orion Drive: Cosmic Lotus uses the magical variant of an Orion drive to slow down after reaching a good percentage of the speed of light.
  • Shout-Out: Twilight and Violet have just confirmed that a trans-galactic magic energy recharging beam has one end on Luna's moon. Princess Luna, who knows her moon like the side of her hoof calls this revelation "Inconceivable!" Tigerbright promptly quotes The Princess Bride to cast doubt on Luna's use of inconceivable. Luna is unimpressed with Tigerbright's explanation, so the chakat acquires a copy of the film from the ship's crew to share with the Equestrians.
  • Timey-Wimey Ball: Quantum Gallop is This Trope: The Book. Each chapter is a new Stable Time Loop. sometimes, more than one.
  • Worthless Yellow Rocks: As is so common with MLP:FiM crossovers, Equestria and its ability to produce gemstones as common as gravel, yet highly valuable in human worlds.
Violet: "You don’t know her like we do. I’ll bet ten flawless rubies to your one that she’s been up all night researching all the implications of what her son told her."
Tigerbright: ... "I’ve known you for two weeks and I already know better than to take you up on that bet. Also, stop trying to bankrupt me with your common Equestrian gravel. Rubies don’t grow on trees or rock farms or whatever like they do in this magical place."...
