- Body Horror: Both I Cannot Drown and Lily's Well are full of twisted flesh monsters.
- Cruelty Is the Only Option: Important decisions often require players to do bad things to the player character and/or any unfortunate NPCs.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: The true endings often require complete exploration of the games themselves before being able to be reached.
- Flower Motifs: Both Lily and Ume have connections to flowers.
- Guide Dang It!: There's plenty of secrets that can be missed due to Ice hiding them being some obscure requirements. Certain puzzles in Lily's Well are additionally known to have caused players trouble.
- Multiple Endings: I Cannot Drown has three endings, but Lily's Well has a whopping fifteen.
- Nightmare Face: Both protagonists and antagonists can be expected to have their face warped in some terrifying way.
- Random Event: Ice often plants randomized scares in order to catch players off guard.
