Emily Clara Rios (born April 27, 1989 in Los Angeles, California) is a Mexican-American actress. Raised as a Jehovah's Witness, Rios was discovered at a shopping mall and began acting at 16. After smaller roles she became known due to her Breaking Bad role as Andrea Cantillo. Since then she's also garnered acclaim for other roles on The Bridge (US) and Snowfall. Rios came out as a lesbian in 2014. She is close friends with Alyssa Diaz (they played girlfriends on The Bridge (US)) having auditioned for many of the same roles. Rios is a lesbian who's said she's far more androgynous in her personal style when not acting, to the point of being mistaken for male quite frequently in her preferred clothing.

Selected filmography:

Tropes in her work include:

  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: She has played lesbian characters twice. Maria on Men of a Certain Age was a recurring character. Later on The Bridge (US) she portrayed Adriana Mendez, a reporter (and both are also Mexican-American). Regarding the latter she gushed about getting to play a woman like herself, even in a minor role, and the directors accepting her input that Adriana's sexuality be just incidental without being the focus of her entire character.
