Predator (subtitled Day of the Hunter for the collected edition) is a 2022 comic book limited series published by Marvel Comics, part of an Expanded Universe centered around the Predator films. The series is the first Predator comic Marvel's published since acquiring the comic adaptation rights. It's written by Ed Brisson, with art by Kev Walker.

As seen in the films, the Predators are an alien species with advanced technology, including personal stealth systems that make them effectively invisible. Some of them have a code of honor, but they also have a warrior culture that hunts and kills dangerous prey for sport - and humans are considered suitable prey.

The first issue was released on August 10, 2022.

Predator contains the following tropes:

  • An Arm and a Leg: The Predator waiting for Theta on Tusket shoots her when she tries to flee, severing her left leg below the knee. She replaces it with a prosthetic.
  • Anachronic Order: The start of the series jumps between 2041 and 2056. Downplayed as, after the backstory's complete, it sticks to the 2056 setting.
  • Decapitation Presentation: After finally killing the Predator that killed her parents, Theta leaves its severed head displayed on a spike.
  • The Hunter Becomes the Hunted: Theta has spent years hunting Predators, seeking revenge on one specific alien for killing her parents.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: After the ambush goes wrong, Captain Ferrier backhands Theta and rants about the death of his crew and how he'd told Theta she'd suffer the consequences if the plan failed. He's abruptly interrupted mid-sentence when the Predator skewers him from behind with a pole arm and then tears him in half at the waist.
  • Off with His Head!: In the final issue, facing the Predator that killed her parents, Theta manages to decapitate it with a final desperate sword blow. And then she leaves its head on a spike.
  • Variant Cover: Five of them for the first issue, two for the second.
  • You Killed My Father: Theta is hunting Predators because one of them killed her parents. She mentions that she's fought another 26 of them by the time she confronts her parents' killer at the end of the series. And after killing that one she opts to continue her quest for vengeance.
