Main Characters
Aurora
A Sky Wolf miner who rebels for the good of Elementa.
- Broken Pedestal: Aurora looked up to Queen Tempest until she learned that she was a tyrant who wanted to wage genocidal war against the three other packs.
- Forbidden Love: Aurora develops a crush on Ember and they become mates. After Ember becomes King of the Fire Wolves, he makes Aurora his queen.
Ember
A bitter Fire Wolf who lacks elemental powers.
- The Reveal:
- In the epilogue of Frozen Secrets, Ember is revealed to be the estranged son of King Inferno.
- Royal Rivalry reveals that Ember is the maternal half-brother of Nautilus
- Shifting Sands reveals that Ember- like all wolves lacking elemental abilities- can steal the elemental abilities of other wolves.
- Missing Mom: Ash was absent for most of Ember's life. In Shifting Sands, it's revealed that Ash fled because she grew to fear Inferno and their children. Subverted in Flaming Fate. After Ember becomes an all-element wolf, Ash arrives and convinces her son to return the elements of his friends.
- Defector from Decadence: Ember fled his pack to escape his dysfunctional family.
Nautilus
A timid Water/Fire hybrid.
- Parental Abandonment: Nautilus has been on his own for as long as he could remember. In Royal Rivalry, it's revealed that Nautilus's grandparents forced his parents to abandon him due to him being a hybrid.
Sandstorm
A cruel warrior of the Earth Pack.
- Action Girl: Sandstorm is a fierce she-wolf who likes to fight.
Sky Pack
Queen Tempest
- Alpha Bitch: Queen Tempest portrays the other packs as savages in order to justify her genocidal campaign against them. She also attempts to capture and persecute any Sky Wolf who opposes her ideology.
- Outliving One's Offspring: Tempest's hatred of the other packs stems from losing her daughter to King Inferno.
Water Pack
King Fin and Queen Ripple
- Fantastic Racism: Ripple and Fin hate the other elements. This hatred extends even to their grandson, Nautilus, whose mother is a Fire Wolf. They were responsible for separating Nautilus from his parents.
- Would Hurt a Child: They were not above killing their grandson for being half Fire Wolf.
- Abusive Parents: Ripple and Fin threatened to kill Delta if he stayed with Ash and Nautilus. They also turned back on their word that they'd leave Ash and Nautilus in peace if Delta returned to the Water Pack Empire.
Benthos
A Water Pack prince who's Nautilus' adopted brother.
- Royal Brat: Benthos is an imperious prince who doesn't care about his subjects' welfare.
- Cain and Abel: Benthos serves as Nautilus' rival throughout Royal Rivalry.
- The Usurper: Benthos usurps Nautilus as King and turns him and his friends over to Ember's littermates. Following Nautilus's return, Benthos is defeated and exiled from the Water Pack. In Shifting Sands, Benthos returns to the Water Pack, where he takes Nautilus hostage and turns him over to now-King Ember before retaking the Water Pack's throne.
- Patricide: Benthos kills King Delta and subsequently takes his place as king.
- Tyrant Takes the Helm: As King of the Water Wolves, Benthos is a dictatorial ruler.
King Delta
- Luke, I Am Your Father: King Delta is revealed to be Nautilus's father in Royal Rivalry.
- Papa Wolf: Delta cares deeply for his sons and is overjoyed when a lost one returns.
- Forbidden Love: He took Ash, a foreign wolf, as his mate.
Sand Pack
King Mesa
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Mesa and his mate are benevolent rulers of their domain.
- Father to His Men: Mesa cares deeply for his kingdom.
Queen Sahara
- Cool Old Lady: Sahara is a kindhearted individual who cares deeply for her pack.
- Action Mom: Sahara cares deeply for Mamba.
Commander Mamba
Commander of the Earth Pack's army.
- The Bully: Mamba bullied Sandstorm and Flower in their youth. This trope is averted later on in Mamba's life; as Commander of Earth Pack's army, he cares deeply for the troops under his command and the pack as a whole.
- Disappeared Dad: Mamba never knew his birth father.
- Evil Matriarch: Mamba was born to a single mother who mistreated him.
- Father to His Men: Mamba cares deeply for the soldiers under his command.
Fire Pack
Inferno
King of the Fire Pack.- Archnemesis Dad: Although Inferno raised all his children to fear him, he was particularly cruel to Ember because the latter couldn't perform pyrokinesis. Ember eventually kills Inferno and takes his father's place as king. In Flaming Fate it's revealed that Inferno actually cared about Ember to some degree and wished he'd been a better father before he died.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: In the epilogue of Frozen Secrets, Inferno is revealed to be Ember's father.
- Tyrant Takes the Helm: King Inferno ruled Fire Pack like a dictator.
Burn
The commander of the Fire Pack's army, a soldier staunchly loyal to Inferno.- Mama Bear: Burn serves as a maternal figure to Ember following his ascension to the Fire Pack's throne. It's subverted in the climax of Flaming Fate, when she is revealed to have orchestrated an attempt on the young king's life.
- Shout-Out: Burn reveals that during an expedition into an unknown land, the Fire Pack discovered a race of sapient beings with feathered wings whose name starts with the letter "G". This is a reference to the Griffin Realms from Sophie Torro's Griffin Quest series.
