The main protagonist and member of the Traveling Symphony who grew up in the new world after the virus hit.- Control Freak: Do to some abandonment issues l, she does not handle it well when people try to break away from the Symphony. Her protectiveness of Alex also manifests in this form.
- It's All My Fault: Because her play pop delayed leaving Franks apartment by a day, she feels responsible for Franks murder. She has to remind herself that it isn’t.
- The Leader: While Sarah is the Co-founder with Gil, Kirsten is firmly in this role, making most of the decisions for the Traveling Symphony
- Mama Bear: Very protective of Alex who she practically raised.
- Parental Substitute: despite being at most 15 years older, Kirsten has raised Alex from infancy.
- Took a Level in Badass: The harsh world that grew out of the virus turned her into a deadly person who is quite skilled with a knife.

Co-Founder and retired member of the Traveling Symphony- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He’s kind of a smug theater person but he was great with children and still treated the Traveling Symphony as his family.

- Papa Wolf: Immediately takes to being this for Kirsten even when she is a complete stranger.
- What You Are in the Dark: Pretty much the beginning of his guardianship of Kirsten. He could have sent her on her way alone that night by he just couldn’t. He could have left her on the train when his sister told him about the virus but he just couldn’t. He could’ve left her alone when he got her home but he just couldn’t.

- Ambiguous Situation: Considering his death in the book was a suicide to make sure Jeevan can take care of Kirsten without worrying about him, it’s a possibility that his refusal to leave his him at the demand of a desperate and dangerous bandit in the show was also a Heroic Suicide but it’s not made clear.
- Cool Big Bro: He was this to Kirsten. She took his death really hard.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Had a traumatic experience overseas leaving him disabled and briefly developed a heroin addiction.

- Loved by All: Arthur was effortlessly charismatic, funny, and people didn’t just love him, they gravitated towards him. The adored him. Even those who hated him loved him.
- The Mentor: He was Kirsten’s acting mentor.
